Born in 1990, Cochrane knew Dr. Stingray quite well (he had attended numerous seminars conducted by the late scientist, and had been a co-worker of Stingray before he left Gizmonic Institute in 2023 to form Wiz Laboratories), and had a very good relationship with him. He also had a relationship with colleague Alicia Fairchild that bordered on a romance. When Dr. Fairchild was murdered, he had finally worked up the courage to ask her out and was on his way to her house to do just that, when a boomer who ironically was built to resemble him burst from the house, covered in blood, burst its skin and flew away. He ran in to see his dear friend lying on her stomach on the floor, back of her head crushed and oozing blood and brains. Over the next several years, he took comfort only in the fact that she had died instantly. He fears that she blames him for her death and occasionally thinks he can see her ghost in the corner of his eye (not true - Fairchild had realized that the "Jim" she was talking to was a boomer and had been about to ask it what it was doing with her friend's body when it killed her).
The only way Dr. Cochrane can outrun the ghosts of his past before they break him is by helping Alicia's daughter exact revenge on Genom.
Dr. Cochrane has light-brown hair (that's slowly graying), dark brown
eyes, and wears glasses.

Born in 2013, the only child of a marriage that lasted 18 months before her father's death in an auto accident, Sandra was about to come into her mom's living room and ask her when she was finally going to ask Dr. Cochrane to go out with her when she saw Dr. Cochrane's eyes glow red and his hand shoot out and kill her mother. He ran out of the room and ten seconds later, Dr. Cochrane (the real one this time) ran back into the room and swore revenge on Genom. It took Jim Cochrane nearly six months before Sandra could look at him without flinching in fear. After she trusted him again, he helped her build the Stingfire hardsuit to take vengeance on Genom. The two began to recruit other malcontents: former CADP Lieutenant Joe Carlisle (ousted after he was caught on Genom property), local rock star Vincent (so nicknamed for her laugh, evocative of a female Vincent Price), and college student and hacker William Reish.
Physically, Sandra is the precise image of her mother: she has the classical green eyes and pale complexion of a redhead and a gorgeous figure which attracts men like honey attracts bees. One point of difference between Sandra and her mother: Alicia wore glasses, Sandra wears contacts.

Joe Carlisle - Private security specialist and heavy assault
Age: 30
Former Lieutenant Carlisle has none of the prejudices one would expect from a former member of an Advanced Police unit against boomers - in fact he dated an emancipated boomer for a short time (Kei Aragami). To Joe, a person's a person, whether born from a womb or a production line. He is wary of boomers - what sane ADP officer wouldn't be - but he doesn't let it get in the way of an honest appraisal of their worth as people. He joined the ADP as most officers did - an administrative transfer. He proved to be an excellent mechapilot, quickly rising to the position of Mobile Squad Commander and the rank of Lieutenant. He was discharged after chasing a running BU-55C that had just destroyed six apartment buildings (which Genom later built a new laboratory on the grounds of) onto Genom property and destroying it.

Kerry Vincent - Rock singer and hand-to-hand combat specialist

Kerry at first glance appears to be a fairly "light" singer: she doesn't (vocally) want Genom torn down and destroyed, nor are her lyrics the kind that would incite people to riot. Despite this, she has a deep message against the corporation's greed.
She also carries a deep secret, even from herself: she's a reconditioned Bu-33S Sexaroid. Her memory was overwritten with the memory of a human woman, but she ran away before her OMS link could be put in, therefore not even Genom can control her actions. Part of the reason her albums sell so well is the monstrous charm she radiates. Genom knows that Cyberdroid 33S-21871 is actually rock singer Kerry Vincent, but they have no idea that Kerry Vincent is the woman behind the Crossfire hardsuit's gray-and-gold helmet.
Unknown to Kerry, she was previously Kei Aragami. She still feels a great attraction to Joe Carlisle, but doesn't know why.
Like all Boomer Sexaroids, Kerry is extremely beautiful. She was created as a drop-dead gorgeous blonde with cat-green eyes, a dark complexion (slightly lighter than Mihoshi's complexion, though) and a lethal figure. Her underlying software configuration automatically turns on her hypnotic optics when she wants to hold somebody's full attention. Kerry's self-repair systems work slightly faster than most Sexaroids', allowing her a more normal rate of recovery.

Alicia Fairchild's tragic death at thirty-four stunned the scientific world. Despite the fact that she bore her first and only daughter two months before her eighteenth birthday, she graduated college a semester early and was immediately headhunted by Gizmonic Institute, one of the world's foremost research labs. There she met and instantly became fast friends with Doctors Katsuhito Stingray (before he broke away from Gizmonic and formed Wiz Laboratories) and James Cochrane.
At the age of twenty-seven, she earned her doctorate with a dissertation on the potential uses of powered suits in peacetime applications as well as in war. She was recognized at the time of her death as one of the world's foremost experts on robotics. Her work earned her the Nobel Prize for Science posthumously.
Despite the long hours Alicia often spent in the laboratory, she was a gorgeous woman with flowing red hair, piercing jade eyes, a creamy complexion and an athletic figure. She wore glasses to correct her vision. Her cheerful personality made her a welcome presence at events both in and out of the scientific community, and earned her the enmity of Kevin Sharpe, a rival robotics scientist.
