Dancing with the Dark One
by Shadowdance
He stepped lightly into the room, and all eyes turned to gaze upon his countenance. A handsone figure of a man was he. I found myself unable to take my eyes off him, and followed his movements.
He paused here and there to speak with friends and made his way around the room. Just as the band struck up a lively little tune, our eyes met. I felt as if I had been struck by lightening, so much did his gaze jolt me.
He walked over to me, and bowed. Holding out his had he asked "May I have this dance?" My heart skipped a beat, and my chest tightened. I was barely able to get out an answer. As I took his hand, the contact with him made my heart race. He led me to the dance floor and in one graceful motion began to move me around the floor.
The dance was marvelous and he an excellent partner. I'm sure I fell in love at that moment, after just one turn of the dance. When the music stopped, my heart stopped with it. He led me back to my table and bowed again. Then a wondrous thing happened, he did not leave, but instead stayed to talk to me!
My mind reeled even as my body responded to his nearness. He asked me if he might call upon me sometime. I wanted to scream out, YES! OH YES, it was indeed my biggest desire, but I managed to control myself and told him, "Why yes sir, that would be lovely."
But then the evening was nearing its end, and my heart grew heavy. Perhaps noticing my distress, he took my hand and led me out to the patio, where under the stars with a smile on his face, he stole one quick kiss from me. I thought I would burst from joy. I could feel the blush creep up my cheeks as I smiled at him. He bowed again, made his goodbyes and departed. Myself, I was in love, really in love, after just one night. Hurray!, my heart cried, and I could not wait until I would see him again.
