Hello there my fellow addicts. My name is Amber, and yes, I am addicted to watching Hercules and writing slash fiction. Here I have a list of the 12 steps to kicking the addiction, and in the future would like to include your own tragic acconuts of your fateful encounters and the problems this has caused you. (Please, excuse that sarcasm.)
Step 1: Log off! Quit going into the Hercules chat rooms and message boards, just turn off that computer when a juicy piece of fiction hits your inbox. Don't be afraid to just say NO! Once you have done this, move on to step two.

Step 2: Portrait removal. Take down that Kull movie poster you pinned dillagently to your bed room wall. Remove the Micheal Hurst poster from above your bed. Take down all the framed autographs you slaved in line for two hours at a convention to get. Put all of these things away! Remember that trunk your mother gave you as a birthday preasent, use it! :) Out of sight, out of mind. Once you are confident you don't have to have your best friend surgicly remove your photo of Bruce Campbell from your grubby mits, move on to the next step.

Step 3: Cut back! Don't watch every showing of Hercules on the Saturday AND Sunday. If you can cut the normal 7 or so showings down to no more than 3, you are on the road to recovery!

Step 4: No more conventions! The next time the ole band wagon is in town, just don't do it! If you really want to kick the habit, you need to get tough.

Step 5: Is that a fic I see in your notebook? Ditch it! Yes, you must stop writing fanfic, no matter how hard it is, just put down that pencil, and clear your mind. The urge to write will be strong, but focus the energy into doing other things, like not watching TV!

Step 6: Hard drive Purge! Get rid of all the .jpg, .gif, .doc, .txt, etc...files that contain anything even remotely related to the show! Just dump it and recycle!

Steps 7-11: I included all these together beacuse they are the same thing. Forget everything you ever learned about ancient Greece in High School and Collage! Thinking about it will make you think of Hercules. If you can safely hear the word CENTAUR without wondering where they come from, you are Okay!

STEP 12: Forget the other 11 steps and go back online! Break out the posters and pics! Write that fiction! Download the latest stories! Go to every chat room and message board possible! You don't think anyone would actually want to quit watching Herc, do ya? :) It's not an addiction, its education!

Now, what have we learned? Hercules is an awsome addiction, and should never be kicked! :) Keep watching, and send me your own confessions of addictions! I'll post them on this page!
