I met Gord up in Fort Nelson after listening to a cassette recording of his first album "All of These Changes", and he blew me away.
Okay, secret truth? I'm a folky at heart, and Johnson's style is flawless in its simplicity: songs to meditate about life by.
Fantastic! When he recorded "All of These Changes" he was already apart of a trio called Unlikely Icon with Steve Bell and Larry
Campbell. But Gord's voice is sweet and haunting. I told him he was like a cross between Gordon Lightfoot and John Denver -
what's that like? - I'll leave it to your imagination. Prize songs on "Changes" were: Still in love with you; Don't you know my name;
Wonder when I'll see you again; Silent family; and the title track. His second release was more commercial with the Unlikely title
"Stumble and Hay" and its sound is much more eclectic with: Babe; Can't Take My Soul; I've Been Where the Water; You Who Dwell (reminiscient of John Michael Talbot);
Ps. 57 (oh lord have mercy); Why, Why; Real (Radio) Love; Lap of Luxury; and This is My Song. Last seen with SignPost Music in 1996, I've heard he's working as a
graphic artist somewhere in East Central Canada. Oh why, oh why? Sorry no pics or homepages. The extremely curious can look up SignPost
