The idea of "life force" is fascinating, and thoughts on it have led to all sorts of imaginative conclusions; such as Jim Davis' Garfield cartoon strip comparisons of intelligent life forms in which a cat is found at the top and a rock is found ahead of a dog as a form of intelligent life. There is also the Russian science-fiction classic, Solaris, in which a planet is found to be an intelligent life-form.
Overall, the Bible is very conservative in its description of life, in that life can be obviously seen as life, and inanimate objects remain without. However, the exception of this comes in the form of angels, originally servants of Gods, and demons, disobedient angels. These creatures were created outside of our physical boundaries, and apparently before the existence of our universe when a different kind of universe existed.
The interesting thing though is that these things remain very similar, as if there were a common truth shared. The most remarkable truth in the Bible is that life was and is generated by God's own force, the Spirit of God. There seems to be no equivalent for this in other belief systems. What this actually means is that our very lives are GIVEN to us by God, and NOT generated in a purely biological manner. Following the conclusions drawn by the Bible, I would venture to say that life cannot be created by man, nor by any force outside of God.
