    SHILA MEHTA,  a  dancer with a rare sense of artistry
    has  proved  to  be one of the leading  female Kathak 
    dancers of India.

    SHILA received initial training from SRI PRAHLAD DAS      
    and SRI CHITRESH DAS. Later on, she has undergone training 
    in intricate nuances from the renowned Guru Pt. VIJAI SHANKAR.
    She has  attended  intensive  workshops conducted by the 
    Doyen  of  Kathak  Pt. BIRJU MAHARAJ  and  renowned 
    choreographer and dancer SMT. KUMUDINI LAKHIA. Lessons
    in  Abhinaya aspects of classical dance are imparted 
    to her by Smt. KALANIDHI NARAYAN.

    Though Kathak remains her foremost interest, Shila is 
    a well known choreographer and Director of dance ballets.
    She is at ease in presenting folk dances in traditional
    style  and  is  also  well  known for her imaginative 
    blending of folk and classical movements in dances and 
    has  received  wide acclaim from laymen as well as 
    connoisseurs.
