Ryan was sitting in his small, cramped apartment in front of the
television. He was playing a video game and was close to finishing
the level when…
"Oh NO! I died! Not again!" he yelled at the game,
watching his character on the screen fade out. "And I was almost
finished too. Oh well, at least I got a high score," he added, noticing
his initials light up on the screen. He turned the game off and stood
up.
"I’d better take a break from this game and do something constructive
for once," he decided. "That’s it, I’ll go take a walk." He
left his apartment and walked to the park near the apartment complex.
"I really need to get out more," he thought to himself as he entered the
gates of the park.
Meanwhile, Shiloe was sitting in front of her computer.
She was programming a computer game that she had been working at for two
weeks now. As she typed, she heard a knock on her door.
"Shiloe, are you in there?" her father’s voice asked from the
other side of the door.
"Yeah, Dad," Shiloe replied. "I’m on the computer."
"Why am I not surprised?" her father joked, opening the door
to her room and walking in. "Still working on that game?"
"Uh-huh," Shiloe replied, not really paying attention to her
father, concentrating more on her programming.
"Need any help with it?" he offered. "I’m always here in
case you get stuck with anything."
"No, I can handle programming a simple game, Dad," Shiloe answered,
a little annoyed, wishing he’d leave her in peace.
"All right," her father replied. He ran his index finger
along her bookshelf, stirring up a coat of dust. "It’s awfully dusty
in here, Shiloe. You’d better either get out more or dust in here
or you’ll catch Valley Fever."
"Yeah, I know," Shiloe said. "But he’s right," she thought.
"Dad," she said aloud, "I don’t want to be mean or anything, but can you
leave now? I’ve got to concentrate on my program and it’s a little
hard with you standing here watching over me like some kind of spy."
"Sorry," he replied. "You just ignore me, okay?"
He left her room then, leaving her to work on her program.
After typing a few more minutes, Shiloe saved her program to
a disk and shut off the computer. "Dad’s right, I’ve got to get out
and get some fresh air," she said to herself. "I’ll take a walk,
I guess." She got up and walked outside, after telling her father
where she was going, and walked to the park.
Ryan was strolling casually through the park. He sat on
a bench near the lake and looked across at the setting sun. Then
he noticed Shiloe walking around across the lake. He decided to go
over and say hello to her, so he got up and walked around the lake.
Shiloe was walking around near the lake in the park. Suddenly
she heard someone behind her. Suspecting to see Nova or the Death
Ladies, she spun around. But it wasn’t Nova, it was Ryan. She
smiled with relief.
"Hey, Shiloe," he said. "What’re you doing out here?"
"Oh, nothing really," she said in reply. "Just out for
a walk, I guess. You too?"
"Yeah, I just wanted to get out for some fresh air," Ryan said.
"So did I," Shiloe agreed. They walked around the lake
a few times together, then suddenly after they had been around about four
times, Shiloe stopped.
"Shiloe? What’s wrong?" Ryan asked.
"I’m sensing something evil here," she replied. "Like…like
Nova. Or the Death Ladies maybe. But I know that there will
be a Darkdeath attack here."
"How do you know that?" he asked.
"I’m not sure," Shiloe replied honestly. "I can just feel
these things, you know? We’d better be careful."
Ryan and Shiloe had walked around some more when they heard a
screaming noise coming from across the park, followed by the sound of evil
laughter.
"What was that?" Ryan cried out, turning in the direction of
the sounds.
"I told you there’d be a Darkdeath attack, didn’t I?" Shiloe
answered. "Come on. We’d better get over there." She
ran toward where the noises were coming from, with Ryan following close
behind.
"Shiloe, where—" Ryan began, but was cut off immediately.
"Shh!" Shiloe hissed. She ducked down behind some bushes
and pulled him down beside her. "Nova. She’s right over there,
and she’s got some kind of daimon with her."
"Daimon, did you say?" Ryan repeated. "Lemme see."
He peeked up over the bushes, only to be pulled down again by Shiloe.
"Ryan!" she whispered. "Do you really want Nova and that
daimon to see us?"
"No," he replied sheepishly. "I just wanted to see what
the daimon looked like. You know, to see what we’ll be up against."
"Well, don’t do that!" Shiloe replied. She looked around
anxiously, then turned back to him. "We’ve got to transform.
Like, now."
"All right," Ryan agreed. "Orion Astral Star Power, transform!"
"Spica Astral Star Power, transform!" Shiloe added. Once
transformed, they leaped out of the bushes at Nova and her daimon.
"Okay, what do you think you’re doing, Nova?" Orion demanded.
"Sailor Astros again!" Nova said. "Darn it. Why do
I always miss you guys transforming?"
"Luck," Spica replied dryly. "But I’m afraid your luck’s
run out, Nova. Spica Dream Chaos!" Spica raised her sword,
and a purple mist floated across towards Nova. The attack caused
Nova’s vision to blur, and she began to hallucinate.
"Not again!" Nova exclaimed, as she fell to her knees.
"You may have gotten me this time, but I’ll be back, Astros! Daimon,
attack them!" she ordered her daimon as she disappeared. The daimon
was red and had sharp purple teeth and claws. Upon seeing the daimon
for the first time, Orion was shocked, not thinking that they could defeat
it so easily.
"Um, Spica?" he asked. "How are we supposed to kill…that?"
"Easy," Spica replied, trying to sound unafraid, although she
was. "It’s going to take more than two Sailors to get this guy,"
she thought.
But her thoughts were interrupted when the daimon jumped at them,
extending its fearsome claws. It shrieked with horrible laughter
before swinging its claws down at them. It was about to strike Sailor
Spica when Orion kicked it. It staggered off, apparently hurt.
"Are you all right?" Orion asked Spica.
"Yeah, even though I was nearly impaled by that daimon," Spica
said. "Let’s finish this guy off, now that he’s already hurt."
"Right!" Orion agreed. "Speed of Light!"
"Daydream Rush!" Spica yelled.
The two attacks combined into one, which hit the daimon.
Upon impact, the daimon fell to the ground, writhing around for a few seconds
before disappearing.
"All RIGHT!" Spica cheered.
"We did it," Orion said proudly. "Together," he added pointedly,
then, much to the surprise of both of them, he leaned forward and kissed
an utterly shocked Spica.
After a few moments, Spica stared at him surprisedly.
"What was that about?" she wanted to know.
"What?" Orion asked casually, pretending ignorance.
"You know what I mean," Spica said accusingly. "Why on
Earth did you just kiss me?"
"Because," Orion replied, "because I like you, Shiloe."
Spica could only stand there, speechless for a moment before
snapping out of her trance. "Well…I don’t know what to say…"
"You don’t have to say anything," Orion said. "I know what
you mean."
