"Come on, Chrysta, we’ll be late," Sara said, opening the door
to Chrysta’s bedroom and looking in. They were going to go to a concert
of the school orchestra, which Michelle and Moira would be in.
"Just a minute!" Chrysta said. "It’s almost over, really."
"Chrysta, we’ll be late for Michelle’s and Moira’s concert!"
Sara said.
"But I’m watching Sailor Moon!" Chrysta argued. "She’s
in the middle of her transformation!"
"Oh, for God’s sake," Sara sighed, exasperated. She went
into Chrysta’s room and turned off the TV. "There. Now can
we go?"
"Nope!" Chrysta responded. She grabbed the remote control
and turned it back on again. "Really, Sara, it’s almost over."
"Just come on, okay?" Sara grabbed Chrysta’s hand and dragged
her back out.
"But it was the good part! It was the part where she was
using the scepter!" Chrysta argued, but Sara wouldn’t listen.
"Let’s just go, all right?" Sara said.
"You’re such a kilroy, Sara," Chrysta muttered.
"Killjoy, you mean?" Sara corrected. "Where’d you hear
that phrase?"
"From Shiloe," Chrysta answered. "She’s smart, you know."
"Good for her," Sara said. She glanced at the clock.
"Oh shoot, we’re gonna be late! Come on!" They dashed out the
front door.
"Mom, I’m taking the car, okay?" Daphne told her mother.
"Taking the car?" her mom repeated, looking up from the book
she was reading. "What for?"
"Going to a concert at school," Daphne explained, then added,
"For the school orchestra. A few of my friends are in it. Can
I take the car, please, Mom?"
Douglas, who happened to be listening, interrupted the conversation.
"Don’t let Daphne take the car," he warned. "She’s gonna wreck it!"
"Go away, Douglas," Daphne said.
"Well, it’s the truth, you are gonna wreck the car!" Douglas
replied.
"Ignore him, please, Mom?" Daphne pleaded. "Please let
me borrow the car and I’ll… um, I’ll…"
Her mother laughed. "Fine, I’ll let you take the car,"
she said, handing Daphne the keys. "Just don’t get into an accident."
"Thanks Mom!" Daphne said. "Really, you won’t be sorry
you let me do this, okay?"
"Oh, yes she will," Douglas corrected.
"So you’re going to a concert at school?" Shiloe’s father asked
her.
"Yeah," Shiloe replied. "The school orchestra. It’s
their holiday concert. Moira’s going to be in it. Remember
Moira, that girl I brought over once?"
"Moira, the redhead who didn’t say much? Yes, I remember
Moira." Her father smiled. "So what’s your means of transportation
going to be?"
"Oh, one of my friends is picking me up," Shiloe replied.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door.
"I guess she’s here," her father said. "Your ride, I mean."
"And how do you know it’s going to be a she?" Shiloe asked.
"You mean, it’s a he?" her father replied. "A boy is going
to drive you to the concert?" He looked at her somewhat disapprovingly.
"Shiloe, do you have a boyfriend that you didn’t tell me about?"
Shiloe glared at her father, but she was blushing. "Dad,
please…" She went to answer the door, and it was Ryan.
"Ready to go, Shiloe?" he asked.
"Um, Ryan?" Shiloe said, noticing her father watching them.
"Maybe I should introduce you to my dad…"
Shiloe’s father stepped up and shook Ryan’s hand. "So you’re
Shiloe’s date, are you?"
"Dad!" Shiloe muttered, blushing even more. "Please, don’t…"
"Yeah, my name’s Ryan McAlistair," Ryan introduced himself.
"What time will you guys be back?" her father asked.
"About eight," Shiloe said.
"All right," her dad agreed. "Have a good time."
"We will," Shiloe promised as she and Ryan left.
"All right, girls, practice is over for today!" the coach of the
school soccer team announced. "See you next week!"
Dani and Lilia, who were on the team, walked back to the locker
room to get changed. "So are you going to the concert?" Lilia asked
Dani.
"Yeah, are you?" Dani replied.
"Of course," Lilia said. "Michelle is going to be in it.
Moira, too. I figured I should go along and support them, though
I don’t really like classical music."
"Me either," Dani replied. "But I’m going anyway."
Once both the girls were finished changing, they went into the
school’s auditorium to wait for the concert to start.
Michelle and Moira were helping the band director set some chairs
on stage. It was almost time for the concert, and they were setting
up the stage. Once they were finished, they sat down and took out
their clarinets.
"Moira?" Michelle asked as they were taking their instruments
out of their cases. "Are you nervous about the concert?"
"Not really," Moira replied. "Are you?"
"No, we’ve done concerts like this before," Michelle replied.
Moira looked out at the audience. "There are going to be
a lot of people out there, aren’t there?"
"That’s the way it always is," Michelle said. "There are
always a lot of people out there for the concerts. The performer’s
families, mostly." She looked up at the audience for herself to see
how many people were out there, and noticed the other Astros. "And
the others are out there."
"Where?" Moira asked, looking up abruptly. "Oh, I see them
now."
"They’re all sitting together, probably so we’ll notice them,"
Michelle observed. She waved at Dani in the audience, and Dani waved
back.
But then, the band director turned on the microphone and began
welcoming everyone to the concert, so Michelle and Moira had to stop talking
and get ready to play.
"All our warriors are gone!" Lady Diabla informed her sisters,
watching through her crystal ball. "Soldara is dead. Nova is
a traitor. The others died a long time ago. Now what shall
we do?"
"I have an idea!" Lady Muerta said. "We can go to earth
ourselves, then capture one of the Astros. So then if they want their
fellow Astro back, they’ll have to come here and fight us. Then we
kill them all, or we possess them and train them to serve us!"
"I think that’s a terrible idea," Diabla rolled her eyes.
"No, think about it, sister!" Espirita said. "If we do
that then we’ll have the Astros taken care of, plus we’ll have new warriors!"
"If you think so…" Diabla said. "I guess it could work."
"All right," Muerta said, looking into the crystal ball.
"So are we going to go capture them now, or what?"
"Hey, there they are!" Sara informed the other Astros excitedly,
seeing Michelle and Moira come out of the door to the band room.
"Hey, guys!" Daphne waved to them excitedly. Michelle and
Moira walked over to join the other Astros.
"How did we do?" Michelle asked shyly.
"You guys were great!" Lilia said. "Really!"
Then suddenly, three figures materialized in the sky above them.
The three landed on earth, and the Astros could see that they were women,
all of them wearing black dresses, and they all had black hair and were
deathly pale. Moira gasped in recognition.
"The Death Ladies!" she whispered.
"All right, humans!" one of the Ladies announced. "I’m
positive that one of you is a Sailor Astro. Show yourselves!"
"Oh, shoot," Dani muttered. "You guys, let’s go!"
She led the others out behind the school building.
"Okay, so now what?" Lilia asked.
Cypress flew down out of the sky and landed on the ground in front
of them. "Those are the Death Ladies!" he told them. "You all
have to transform and fight them."
"Right!" Daniella agreed. Lifting her transformation wand
into the air, she shouted, "Zephyr Astral Star Power!"
"Vega Astral Star Power!"
"Andromeda Astral Star Power!"
"Inferno Astral Star Power!"
"Io Astral Star Power!"
"Orion Astral Star Power!"
"Nova Astral Star Power!"
"Arcturus Astral Star Power!"
"Spica Astral Star Power!"
They transformed, then raced back out to the area where the Death
Ladies were attacking. They were recklessly blasting people, trying
to find out if any of them were Astros.
"We’re right here, stupids!" Vega yelled at them.
"The Sailor Astros!" one of the Death Ladies cried out.
"Yes, and you are…?" Io prompted them.
"The Death Ladies!" the three women announced.
"Lady Espirita!" one of them said.
"Lady Diabla!" another said.
"Lady Muerta!" the last one said.
"Why do I feel like I've heard that before?" Zephyr wondered
aloud.
"Let’s just get this over with, shall we?" Spica suggested.
"Daydream Rush!" The energy ball flew past the Death Ladies, not
affecting them even slightly.
"Was that your best shot?" Lady Muerta teased.
"No, the best is yet to come!" Zephyr said. "Zephyr Comet
Fireworks!"
The Death Ladies watched the fireworks, boredly. "Quite
amusing, really." Espirita yawned.
"Amusing?" Arcturus repeated. "Whatever!" She jumped
up and kicked all three Death Ladies across the face. "Yeah, I bet
that was amusing, wasn’t it?"
"Ooh, you little mosquito!" Diabla clenched her fists.
"We’ll get you for that!"
"We certainly will!" Muerta agreed. She raised her hands
toward the sky, then brought them down sharply. A cloud surrounded
Sailor Arcturus, and when the cloud lifted, she was trapped in a block
of ice.
"Arcturus! No!" Io cried. She ran towards the block
of ice, but Espirita sent an energy blast at her that threw her backwards.
Espirita smirked and picked up the frozen Arcturus.
"I learned that little trick from you, Sailor Nova, freezing
someone in ice like that," Muerta said. "Now if you don’t mind, we’ll
be leaving now." The three Death Ladies flew off into the distance,
carrying the frozen Sailor Arcturus with them.
