I have been a police officer since 1975. Policing is a serious and sometimes dangerous business, but it sometimes has its lighter side. There are many stories generated in every Police Department worldwide, some of these are funny. I try and take the funnier stories, compose a poem about the incident, and post it around headquarters for all to see and get a laugh.

When I first started doing this, I thought my "victims" would be angry. Instead, I discovered, that some of them were keeping photocopies and framing them. Because of this, I felt that I could supply them with something better looking for display. I now print a copy on a very nice cloud background paper, sign it, and present it to each person named in a poem.

Over the years, while some people try to hide their story from me, others come forward and let me know about the incident. When I receive information deemed worthy of a poem, I go right to the source and confirm the facts. Nobody is immune to these poems. I have written about civilian members, Corporals, Sergeants, Inspectors, one or two about the Chief and even recently Bill Clinton, well at least his security entourage. In fact, I have been my own best victim with a total to date of sixteen incidents I've been involved in. I figured if I was picking on myself, nobody could fuss too much if I picked on them.
