The Nurse and The Cop
.
They met August third, of eighty one,
A nurse and a cop out looking for
fun.
I'm off at eleven, said Diane with
a smile,
Let's meet then at Bino's and talk
for awhile.
I Work until two, said Tom in dismay,
But I'll take some time off, I'm sure
there's a way.
.
I'll talk with the corporal, and get
O.T.L.
Oger is acting and he's really swell.
Tom talked with Tom, and got three
hours time,
Then looked in his pocket but found,
not a dime.
I really need money said Tom with
a curse,
If I'm to impress that cute little
nurse.
.
I'll go to the bank and withdraw some
cash money,
I'll go there right now while the
sky still is sunny.
Tom got the money and was feeling
quite swell,
When over his radio came an alarm
bell.
Code four! Yelled Lou Williams I'm
starting to chase,
A guy on a bike who thinks there's
a race.
.
He's going down Water at a really
high speed,
And ignoring my siren, paying no heed.
I'm close to there, thought Tom, I
will cover,
And get in this chase before it is
over.
When suddenly around the last corner
he came,
A guy on a bike just playing the game.
.
My bike it is bigger, and that driver
looks gassed,
Tom thought, now I'll catch him, as
he roared past.
He flipped on the siren and turned
on the lights,
While the guy on the bike made a series
of rights.
The chase it was on, along Georgia
Street,
Going one hundred, Tom's heart skipped
a beat
.
Past Howe, Passing Hornby and right
through Burrard,
Yelled Tom in his mike, he is going
real hard.
He is going through red lights, this
guy must be crazy,
And going so last that my vision is
hazy.
He is up on the sidewalk, by the Bayshore,
And right past ten people he went
with a roar.
.
Right at this time, Lou Williams went
by,
Thinking, I'll set up a surprise for
this guy.
Down Georgia to Chilco the chase it
did go,
With The rest of the traffic moving
quite slow.
The guy on the bike downshifted one
gear,
With Tom in pursuit and right on his
rear.
.
When suddenly Tom, observed with a
shock,
Lou turn his car round, to make a
roadblock.
The move that he made was a little
bit rash,
And Tom hit the car with a helluva
crash.
He flew o'er the hood with daring
and grace,
Hit on the run and continued the chase
.
The guy being chased went up two more
blocks,
And then he fell over, after hitting
some rocks.
Tom ran on up and he made the arrest,
Then he realized he was not feeling
his best.
Tom sat himself down, right on the
curbside,
And awaited an ambulance to go for
a ride.
.
Right up to Saint Paul’s Tom went
in pain,
He thought to himself, No! Never again.
I will not chase anyone, so obviously
nuts,
Never again no ifs, ends or buts.
This chase almost killed me, is it
really worth it?
No, I do not think so, not one little
bit.
.
Meanwhile Diane waited and she waited
quite late,
For Tom to show up, since he had made
a date.
She thought, what a jerk, he has stood
me up,
But, I will give him fire minutes
and finish my cup.
But when five minutes passed and she'd
finished her tea,
She thought to herself, he's made
a fool out of me.
.
She headed on home, feeling very irate,
And there learned the tale of why
Tommy was late.
Diane had decided to give him a last
chance,
And that was the start of a budding
romance.
They met the next day, for a ride
in his boat,
Which soon became grounded, unable
to float.
.
They waited for hours 'till the waters
returned,
With both of them getting only slightly
sunburned.
Three months had gone past and Tom
gave Di a ring,
And both of them planned their coming
wedding.
And so this fine tale is not over
yet,
It has just been the story of how
Tom and Di met.
