STORY BEHIND
THE POEM
FORSHAW LEARNS RADIO PROCEDURE
.
Mark Forshaw had recently returned
to the ranks of patrol and was just clearing to start his shift. We used
to clear and advise radio if we would be tied up in court, but unfortunately
for Mark the procedure had changed a few days before.
.
The Chief Dispatcher, who was a known
career climber, who would do anything for promotion, decided to "do" Mark
for violation of the new radio procedures. He called Mark to phone him,
and then proceeded to ream him out for this breach of security.
.
Meanwhile the Channel Two radio dispatcher
could be heard sending units to another channel to cover, because they
had no units available. Anyway, I thought it was a ridiculous example of
someone trying to advance in promotion, by stepping on the "bodies" of
those under him. So was born the poem to voice my opinion.
.
I’m happy to report that the charge
went nowhere and in fact backfired on the career ladder climber.
