Fatal MVA ???

.

Three months ago, I transferred to, Team Eight Squad Number One,

And in that time I waited, for a chance to poke some fun.

Then yesterday it happened, a story worth a rhyme,

An MVA, police involved, it happens all the time.

.

Don Kirkland and his partner, went to a routine B & E,

To Nanton Street at Granville, to see what they could see.

Just after their arrival, Don let his partner out,

Then drove around the block, to cut off the burglar's route.

.

But, when he stopped, and opened up, the unit's drivers door,

He heard the sound of screeching brakes, and dove onto the floor.

When he looked, he saw a car, that was very, very large,

Ripping off his drivers door, how would he tell the Sarge.

.

He then climbed out, put on his hat, went forward from the wreck,

Thinking of the damage done, he began to look and check.

The first thing that he noticed, was the flowers in the back,

And then he spied the driver, dressed in a suit of black.

.

Then he realized what it was, and shouted out a curse,

I know it sounds impossible, but, he collided with a hearse.

But, that's just half the story, for the hearse was occupied,

By a wealthy, older lady, who recently had died.

.

Pat Holliday responded, to help speed her on her way,

To the cemetery she was going, for a long and quiet stay.

The paperwork was quickly done, and she began her final ride,

Before her friends and family, could even get outside.

.

So, now to Donnie Kirkland, I dedicate this verse,

Just remember after this, things could never get much worse.

We feel for you, we really do, this will hang o'er your head,

That one day in your long career, you tried to wake the dead.
