THE FISHING TRIP

.

This tale of two sergeants, is a tale full of woe,

To the R.C.M.P. derby, both were to go.

They loaded their camper, with all of their gear,

Then set off for Gibson's, full of good cheer.

.

But a wrong turn was made, before boarding their ship,

A turn that would make this, a very long trip.

It seems that instead of a jaunt up the coast,

This voyage was taking, much longer than most.

.

Halfway to Nanaimo, they realized their mistake,

They were on the wrong ferry, a lot was at stake.

So up to the bridge, the Captain to meet,

Both ran in a rush, of fast flying feet.

.

His sympathy won, he informed his first mate,

How our two smiling Sergeants, had made a mistake,

So both settled down, for the free return trip,

And sighed with relief at the Horseshoe Bay slip.

.

So now they moved over, to the right ferry boat,

Then headed for Gibson's, their spirits afloat.

For they had decided, to win the contest,

And bring in a fish, which was sure to be best.

.

But alas, the gods smiled not, on the two fishermen,

Not one single fish, could either bring in.

To make matters worse, their secret was out,

But their names I won't give, they know who its about.

.

Finally guys, just a word of advice,

Reading the sign posts, sure would be nice.

A way to avoid your showing up late,

And also avoiding, a poetic fate.
