"Lips" McLaren
.
The North Crime Boys were
out watching, a suspect and a van,
If they could just wait
long enough, to arrest the guilty man.
He moved in on the target,
looked around him for the heat,
Soon he'd have a set of
wheels, for driving down the street.
.
He popped the door lock
of the truck, and climbed into the cab,
NCU were all well hidden,
getting set to make the grab.
The suspect slid down to
the floor, looking at the dash,
Maybe he could sell the
beast, and make some spending cash.
.
He pulled out all the wires,
so he would not need a key,
This guy was sure determined,
NCU could plainly see.
And now, the wait was over,
the information did not fail,
The boys could move, arrest
the crook, and take him off to jail.
.
In they went, to collar
him, then tell him of his right,
To set him up for Legal
Aid, who will help him in his fight.
The wagon came and he went
in, to the lockup he would go,
Detective Rob McLaren, was
the leader of the show.
.
The bust all done, Rob looked
inside, he hoped he'd be in luck,
He had to find the papers
there, for the owner of the truck.
As he sorted through them,
his back was to the street,
He did not see the drunk
approach, who was barely on his feet.
.
He grabbed Rob by the collar,
and threw a roundhouse punch,
That staggered him, and
split his lip, I think he had a hunch,
He caught the guy, just
breaking in, to steal his precious van,
Instead, it seems, the guy
had caught, a working po-liceman.
.
The moral of the story,
for fans of Rodney King,
Rob took the punch, and
stitches too, but didn't do a thing.
The Detective has our sympathy,
as well as this advice,
The bruising and the swelling
go, if you keep those lips on ice.
