Grace Under Pressure
.
Eleven Eighteen Barker,
and Fifteen Fourteen Grace,
Responding to give cover,
at a rather rapid pace.
Down Rupert they both headed,
turned right into the lane,
Came down the hill wheels
spinning, through lightly falling rain.
.
The roadway quickly ended,
with both still far away,
This did not deter them,
they both had come to play.
So, over the embankment,
and out onto the grass,
Both units kept on coming,
neither one could pass.
.
But, alas, it has been raining,
for close to thirty days,
The park was wet and soggy,
the water sits and stays.
When a two ton police unit,
tries to drive on through,
It sinks up to the axles,
there was nothing they could do.
.
They tried to keep on moving,
their tires in a spin,
Digging in much deeper,
no way could they win.
Finally, both surrendered,
got out to view their fate,
Found that they were buried,
and would have to sit and wait.
.
Bob came on quite sheepishly,
called two wreckers for the tow,
"Please come in and get
us, we both now want to go".
But the wrecker could not
find them, he came in by the road,
Both were waiting patiently,
for the trucks to pull the load.
.
Bob and Kevin, here's to
you, you both need four wheel drive,
Next time you want to cover,
be sure you can arrive.
But, then again, it sure
was fun, when everything was said,
Seeing both your smiling
faces, glowing brightly coloured red.
