Sisdels Groove - Fall Out
___________
The Rock 93.5 Fall Out Festival....by NikiJ

We arrived late to Fall-Out, missing Big Bad Voodoo Daddy completely and catching the last half of the Root Doctors. The Root Doctors I thought were, besides being fashion tragedies, a good blend of funk and rock. The crowd seemed to enjoy them. I was able to settle in and pick a good spot for the next band, Athaneaum. I had heard some of their songs on the radio and grown fond of the catchy pop tunes. I became a fan, however, once they started playing. Mark Kano, the lead singer, has a unique voice-congested but
not annoyingly so-and all the members were enthusiastic and solid in their playing. They performed all their radio hits, "What I Didn't Know", etc, as well as a Beatles cover-which you've got to respect!

Next up was Shawn Mullins. This poor one-man band seems to get flack wherever he goes. Yes, his songs are annoying and he breathes heavily at the end of each line, but did he really deserve to be pinged in the head with a water bottle?

Now, the reason I was at Fall-Out were the 2 Skinnee J's, who played after Mullins. Apparently, the rest of the crowd was there for the same reason as they chanted "Skinnee! Skinnee!" for what seemed like an eternity before the J's came on. The J's appeared in pastel Ninja outfits and their usual high energy antics and pop-rap tunes had the crowd on their feet. The Sisdels and I were on the side of the stage-dancing and singing away-oblivious to the fact A. Maye's microphone was right in front of us. Oh, the tragedy! At the time we didn't know-although we did notice J. Guevera giving us odd looks. A. even grabbed me at one point to go tell his tech to turn it up because he couldn't hear. Guess we were kinda loud.

Next up was K's Choice. I really like Sarah Bettens raspy voice. They played all their hits and worked the crowd really well. As well, the crowd was finally reprimanded for their bottle throwing and stopped.

Marcy's Playground was last. The crowd at this point was a
stage-busting 15. They just weren't swingin'. We soon followed the crowd's example and left. Fall-Out was a rockin' success-except next time the J's should be the closing act!
