Rurouni Kenshin Fanfic
"Kaoru.."

        Kaoru laid in her bed, her tears remaining in her eyes, where they
had formed and dared not to roll down her cheeks so not to cause yet another
crying fit. This had been going on all night..it was 1 in the morning, and
she couldn't stand it much longer.
        Kaoru stood up, her face stern. She took a bath and put on her best
kimono. She grabbed her blue ribbon, the one she had given to Kenshin so he
wouldn't leave, the first time. She opened her door, slowly so not to awake
anyone. 
        She tiptoed out of the Dojo, hoping Megumi, Yahiko, and Sanosuke 
would take good care of it. She then gently closed the door and began her
long journey to follow Kenshin.
        Meanwhile, pretty far from the Dojo, Kenshin slept semi-peacefully
under a tree, Misao kicked his rear to wake him up. He jumped, exclaming,
        "Oro!" And fell, rubbing his butt. Misao laughed and looked at him
sharply,
        "Himura, we'd better be off, if we leave now, we'll be at the 
Kyoto by sundown." Misao said. Kenshin's thoughts were elsewhere however.
He remembered when Yahiko had kicked him just like that. It nearly 
brought tears to his eyes.
        "Himura? Himura! Dajabotou, Himura?" Misao called. Kenshin shook
his head as if to clear it and looked up to see a somewhat mad Misao 
looking at him. Kenshin got up,
        "Gomen, Misao-dono. Let's go." He said and begin to walk to the
north, heading towards the Kyoto. Misao followed close behind. Hours
later, out of breath and exhausted, Kaoru found where Kenshin and Misao
had stayed that morning. 
        In a leaf of grass was one strand of his hair, Kaoru picked it
up and fondled it gently in her hands. She placed it in her pocket and
ran quickly after him. 
        By now, it was nightfall, and Kenshin and Misao had decided to
camp just outside the town and head to the Kyoto in the morning. Misao
lit the fire as Kenshin went for a walk alone. 
        He heard a faint crack of a branch and clicked his sword open,
he then heard a familiar voice whisper,
        "Ken..shin.." His eyes widened in disbelief. Could it be..?
Was it..? Kaoru-dono? His breath caught in his throat before he could
utter her name. She stepped out of the shadows, and smiled at him, 
with tears in her eyes.
        "Kaoru..Kaoru-dono..how did you..why did you..?" Kenshin
croaked out, still in shock. Kaoru said nothing for a few seconds,
she felt his eyes on her and couldn't bring herself to look at him.
She looked at the ground and in a trembling voice, she began,
        "I couldn't let you leave..me..us..Kenshin..Yahiko..Sanosuke..
Megumi..Suzume..Auyume..they all need you..and..so do I.." 
        Kenshin's eyes softened. He might have been wrong to leave
them, but he still needed to go there, to settle things. Kaoru lifted
her eyes to his and his eyes widened. He had seen that look from her
before. Every time she smiled at him, she gave him the look.
        Kaoru then walked up to him, almost totally face to face
with him, he whispered,
        "Kaoru-dono.." Kaoru just gazed at him. She had to prove
to him how much he was needed. How much _she_ needed him. Eventhough
she thought it was stupid and a embarressment to a girl of her 
standing and things were not just done that way. But when his lips
parted to speak, she knew she had to do it.
        Her eyes glazed over and she gazed at him through half-hooded
eyes. She slowly leaned foreward as Kenshin stood there, half-mesmorized,
half-delusioned. Kaoru's lips met his in a long, slow, and sweet kiss.
It seemed to go on forever. When Kaoru broke it, the soft moist sound
that parted their lips made her raise her eyes to his.
        Kenshin shook his head, he looked at Kaoru. When she opened her
mouth to speak, she didn't get a chance, Kenshin kissed her. She nearly
melted from electricity surging through her. He held her close, both
his were around her waist, at first, she stood stock still, then 
wrapped her arms around him. She kissed him back and the both pulled
away at the same time.
        "Kenshin, I..I.." Kaoru stammered, but Kenshin put a finger to
her lips, hushing her.
        "Don't say anything, Kaoru-dono..I know what you are thinking..
and you are right..I am needed at the Dojo..wait here.." Kenshin said
as he turned around. 
        "Misao-dono!" He called and a girl appeared from his direction.
She stopped dead in her tracks when she saw Kaoru.
        "Who's this, Himura?" Misao asked.
        "This is Kamiya Kaoru of Kamiya Dojo. Kaoru-dono this is Matimaki Misao-dono."
Kenshin said, introducing them both. 
        "KEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNNSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNN!!!"
Kaoru screeched. Kenshin jumped. His eyes widended and he let out a, 
        "Oro!" Then Kaoru beat him on the head.
        "Kenshin! You bastard! You slept with another woman! How dare you!
Stop this right now! Kenshin you idiot!" Kaoru said and finished just as
Misao got hint to what she was saying.
        "KENSHIN?! IS THAT WHAT YOU TOLD HER?! I'LL KILL YOU!!"
Misao screamed. She whapped him on the head and then they both did
it, Kenshin fell to the ground with a,
        "Oro.." 
        So after that "lovely" event, Kaoru, Misao, and Kenshin
headed back to the Dojo, but Shi-Shi-O swore his revenge.
