The South Austin Gospel Choir was literally ‘Born in a Barn’ in South Austin in 1997and founded under the direction of Renee Fuqua. All Members volunteer our Time, Energy and Voices in creating this unique Specialty Performance Choir.

The South Austin Gospel Choir is comprised of approximately twenty-five men and women who cross over several generations and are from many different Backgrounds, Faiths, and Walks of Life. We are very different as Individuals yet, in each of our Hearts, we are all the Same. We each believe in Honor, Faith, Loyalty, Love, Light, Kindness, and Peace and strive to bring those qualities into everything we do and to everyone we touch in our own personal lives as well as with our Collective Voices.

The South Austin Gospel Choir is a non-profit group and do not receive any remunerations individually. All monies received are used solely for the maintenance of Choir business. All remaining funds are regularly donated to a wide variety of other charitable community organizations, including Heart and Sole, Aids Foundation of Austin, House the Homeless, and American Red Cross 911 Disaster Relief. Our first CD “Born in the Barn” was released the week of 911.

The South Austin Gospel Choir members are each in some way involved with a variety of activities and organizations throughout Austin which enrich our personal lives and our community. Our weekly rehearsal, every Wednesday night at The South Austin Salvation Army Corps Community Center Chapel, is two hours of really hard work...a whole lot of fun... and a tremendous devotion to God and our Fellowship.

It is with the Greatest Respect for All Life...All People... and All Beliefs that we Lift up our Voices to Make a Joyful Noise to God and One Another. We do this for the Love of God, Community and Family and hope You will join us by letting us Rock Your House and Your Hearts !

Come join us for the first ever "South Austin Gospel Choir Reunion Revival" as the Austin City Council and Mayor Gus Garcia proclaim Thursday January 30th:
SOUTH AUSTIN GOSPEL CHOIR DAY.
This will take place at the LCRA location, 3700 Lake Austin Blvd., Austin, TX
during the regular City Council meeting,
January 30th, Thursday, at 5:30pm.,
in the Hancock Building.

MEMBERS:
Please wear your tie-dye and we will sing Pray for Peace and Love. This will be broadcast on LIVE TV, so plan to sing your heart out and have lots of fun like we do BEST!! Set up your VCR's!
