Often, victims of domestic violence believe they are alone in their everyday battles, their fears, their beliefs about themselves. As a SURVIVOR of domestic abuse, I feel like I need to reach out to help anyone in the situation that I , myself was in.

Domestic violence is a never-ending cycle. The victim is conditioned to believe that they are nobody, that nobody would ever care about them, that they have no where to turn. Eventually, the cycle goes from generation thru generation. It is like the Merry-Go-Round, on and on, until someone stops it. STOP THE VIOLENCE NOW!!!

First, if you are a victim, you call your local police department and ask about a shelter. I had to be in a shelter, and it helped me get a new idea about what to do. You can call a local mental health center and they, also, can guide you. Some may help you, or tell you who to call. Secondly, don't be afraid to tell your family. Even though your pride is bruised, they would surprise you in your support. I learned this wayyyy to late, losing both children because I never called my parents for help. They cried when they finally got the whole picture. Third, you must be prepared to GET OUT with nothing if you have to. Once, I believed that my home contained my clothes, my things, my heart. Then, when I knew I'd die if I stayed there, I made a break with the clothes I was wearing, and my LIFE. I've rebuilt and have everything I ever needed now.

I cannot emphasize enough that you MUST reach out and DO NOT BE AFRAID!!! Don't Look Back, either!
