Two team mates in the Super Stockcar section appear to be coming into the light out of the gloom. Waikaraka Park in fact has a superb lighting system. The stockcars were slowly circulating out by the wall, not to wheel pack the surface, but, to provide the crowd with something to look out during a delay in the programme. The Super Stock of Shay Hambling was delayed in coming onto the track. Rather than start the race without the missing car, and rather than have the Super Stocks sitting still on the starting grid the cars were allowed to slowly circulate giving the huge crowd an opportunity to get a close look at the Super Stocks and the kids to come down to the fence and wave to their heros.
