I don't like Ranma 1/2 as much as I used to.
However, I'll always love the music, because that was the first anime music
I ever heard. I don't like the first one, "Platonic Tsuranuite"
as much as I used to. It's sort of cool sounding, and I love the
animation that goes with it, but it just doesn't sound as good once you
hear the other endings. It fits the general rule of the first ending
theme never being the best.
When I heard the opening of the next track "Equal
Romance", I really didn't think I was going to enjoy it very much.
But you know what they say about first impressions. This song is
easy to hum along with. I love all the English in it. However,
the English version of this song... well, that's another story. Thanks
to my Chinese class, I have now gained a greater appreciation for "Don't
Mind Lai Lai Boy", as well as learned how to properly spell it. It's
sung by the same person that sings the first Opening song, and it's pretty
cool. It can get annoying if listened to over and over though.
"Lambada Ranma" is cute. I often hear myself trying to sing it when
I'm bored at school. Sometimes my buddies join in. It's
an addictive song. I love hearing all the original characters' voices.
Now I have absolute proof that one of the girls from my 8th grade class
is really Shampoo. "Present" song sounds incredibly 50's to me.
It's a pretty-sounding song, I just don't like it that much. Hard
to explain, I just have bizarre taste. It is cute when the singers
go "my heart" during the chorus. Or at least, that's what it sounds
like they're singing. "Friends" is pretty nice. So is the animation
that goes with it. That's really it. It's a fantastic song,
and it often gets glued into my head until I get home and play the CD.
This is sung by the same person who sang the OAV opening. I love
that song too. The next track, "Hinageshi" is okay. The person
who sings this has a voice that reminds me of Hisakawa Aya's voice as Yohko.
It's very sad sounding, but frankly sort of boring too. "Positive"
is a very peppy song, but the lyrics aren't really that peppy so it works
out. Morikawa Miho has an excellent voice. My favorite track
is the last one, "Niji to Taiyou no Oka". It's a very sentimental
song. I don't really like the actual singer's voice that much, but
the lyrics and the instruments make up for it. If you're a Ranma
1/2 fan, or you like happy music, this is a good CD to get.
