To the Clean Up the Unions in Local Government Campaign |
| The Sydney Town Hall had over 2,000 concerned Union members
to watch the broadcast and reports indicate that most of our members were in
attendance at one of the 400 Sky Channel venues across N.S.W. Our members have seen and heard the Secretary-elect of the Labor Council of N.S.W. give his promise, that Labor Council and Trade Unions will continue to campaign against this erroneous legislation that will undermine injured worker's entitlements to fair and equitable worker's compensation benefits. As one of the largest Trade Unions in N.S.W., the M.E.U. will continue the battle against this retrograde Worker's Compensation Bill, including calling on a special A.L.P. State Conference to stop further regressive amendments to the Bill. As General Secretary of this Union, I give my personal commitment to use all avenues to protect the rights of injured workers in this State. Thank you all once again for your support at the Sky broadcast on 27 June 2001, and your continuing support for this campaign. Brian Harris GENERAL SECRETARY. |

A recent Union Meeting at the Marconi Room Town Hall House , only
attracted 50 salaried members of Sydney City Council Staff. Considering that this is the same Union "Municipal Employees Union" , that entered these people into an unfair contract of employment , one must be surprised that even 50 people attended. Several years ago this same Union sacrificed its members conditions ,including Holidays , Sick Leave , Rostered Days Off , and permitted Competitive Tendering to be included in the 1997 State Award. Now these same losers are asking its members to forgo benefits which the rest of the community take for granted. You have only the Municipal Employees Union and the delegates who sold your conditions out for personal gain. How can you trust these people? How can you trust this Union?

Disciplinary Code This is the code to which your delegates and the Municipal Employees Union agreed to! You were told it would only be used against trouble makers , these trouble makers being the delegates who gained for you , your , Salary Maintenance , your Redeployment and all the other concessions which caused Maddock and Mcgee to pull out their hair.
