I am a 'freshie' at the Governor's School for Government and
International Studies, also known as GSGIS. Click
on the logo to find out more about my school.
It is one of the best public schools in VA,
and very difficult to get into.
It was a long involved process, starting last Nov,
with the application and essay, and ending in March,
when I was notified that I was selected. And oh boy,
it sure is a hard school........
Mountains of homework every night.
I am taking two Math classes this year ----
Equations, Functions, and Problem Solving, which is like
Algebra I, only on a higher level and Geometry.
If I have problems with my homework, no one at home
can help me.
I am also taking Biology, Spanish II, Global Studies,
Literature, Integrated Technology, and P.E.
Integrated Tech is a class specifically designed for GSGIS, and
all 'freshies' have to take it. There are four parts to it:
a math part, a science part, a writing part, and a computer part.
In each part, we are learning different skills that we will
be using in our other classes, like the use of the TI 83
graphing calculator, and how to use a temperature probe
on the computer. It's an ok class, usually because we
don't have homework very often. That and PE are the only classes
where we don't have homework.
