On the morning of June 6 1944 over 100,000 allied troops
landed on the beaches at Normandy, in the largest
amphibious invasion in history. Over 20,000 Canadians
took part in the landing on the day now known as D-Day
my Dad was one of those men who fought that bloody war,
this page is dedicated to him.

No heroes medals did he wear
no boasts were ever made
whatever those eyes witnessed
those words were never said

But the papers say that he was there
and tell of the threats they all went through
the torpedoes and storms that they endured
escorting ships across the ocean blue

Those secrets though he never shared
as I sat upon his knee
No stories, no tales, of his life at war
Those were his private memories

So many have given of themselves in service to our country
each a hero in his own way. So join me now in salute and thanks
to all those that have served our country to preserve our
way of life.

THE MISTRESS SEA

Alas! The briney ocean paths shall carry me safely home
No longer do I wish to sail, i've lost the urge to roam
A beautiful Maid awaits me there, she's loyal, bonny and true
Not like the devil Mistress Sea who slyly beckons you

She calls you forth to blindly serve, Ever the mistress she'll be
Many a restless spirit she'll claim, but no longer will she claim me
T'is home I go, been a sea dog too long. A forthnight and I'll be there
Home to tame my wild Irish Rose, If she'll have me i'll prove I still care

I've had no life but for the sea....Son don't make the same mistake
Heed this weary sea dog's warning, my advice you should very well take
Beware the devil Mistress Sea, a poor substitute for a wife
Keep you feet planted firmly on rich, dark soil and be grateful...She never took your life

Dedicated In Loving Memory to my father,
Joseph Patrick Mason
I love you Dad and will always miss you.

WE REMEMBER

Just before the dawn
is the darkest hour of the night
You will hear the bugle's sound
come on boys, time to get up and fight

Bleary eyed and battle fatigued
out of their fox holes they will crawl
A new battle just beginning
How many more of these men will fall

They can't remember why they are fighting
lost sight of all but the kill
It's their only means to a ticket back home
So kill some more they will

Their lives are changed now forever
maimed and mared are the spirits of these men
Their government's try to forget them
while into a beurocratic nightmare they are sent

Lets show them that we remember
that their valor has not been lost
That we love and respect our veterans
Lets restore the pride that they've lost

SHOW THEM THAT WE CARE
