Staff of OLS NGOs World Vision International (WVI) and Veterinaries sans Frontieres (VSF) - Belgium were relocated from Nabagok to Lokichokio on 13 January as a result of increased tension between WVI staff and local authorities. Efforts will be made to resolve the situation before staff return to the area to continue programmes. OLS STAFF RELOCATE FROM DUAR... Staff of the OLS NGO Medecins sans Frontieres (MSF)-Holland were evacuated from Duar to Lokichokio on 15 January due to insecurity. The security situation will be monitored by the OLS Security Officers before relief personnel are authorized to return and resume activities. OLS SECURITY WORKSHOP IN NAIROBI... On 15-16 January, the OLS Security Officer will conduct a security workshop at the UN complex in Nairobi for heads of NGOs and donors. The workshop will cover most of the topics included in the Lokichokio-based workshops regularly held for field-based relief personnel. Issues discussed will include: evacuation plans, security levels/terminology, mine awareness, hostage situations and survival techniques. This workshop is part of an ongoing effort to maintain a high level of understanding within the OLS consortium regarding all matters related to the security of relief personnel working in a war zone. WFP UPDATE... During the period between 4-10 January 1998, WFP delivered a total of 105 metric tonnes of food commodities to 51,500 beneficiaries in southern Sudan. Of that total, 16 metric tonnes was delivered to 11,000 beneficiaries in Keyala, 54 metric tonnes to 20,000 beneficiaries in Agaigai and 22 metric tonnes to 18,500 beneficiaries in Koch.
