According to psychologist and psychology professor Joan Keel, having friends is very important to maintaining a healthy balance in your life. "Friends are essential to the natural growth of the human soul and mind." says Keel, "It is important that you be able to share thoughts, feelings, and time with others. Too much alone time can cause a number of health problems such as depression." And all work and no play makes for a very boring life. According to Keel, the method to obtaining friends is to get out and enjoy life. Even the internet has multiple methods of finding those special friends or special someones theough online dating and pen pal services. "Getting friends is the easy part." continues Keel, "Keeping them is another story." Keel's advice is to keep an honest and ongoing communication link between you and your friends. "If the communication stops, so does the friendship." adds Keel. Her last words of advice? "Communication is the key to obtaining and substaining friendships."
