Lyndon Baines Johnson

born: August 27, 1908
died: Jan 22, 1973 in San Antonio, Texas

He served in House  (1937-1949)
             Senate (1949-1961).

He was elected Vice President in 1960
and became President on November 22, 1963
upon the assassination and death of John F. Kennedy
and was re-elected in 1964 against Senator Barry Goldwater.

His programs were known as "The Great Society"
(civil rights, medicaid, medicare), but he became
unpopular because of the Vietnam War and therefore
decided not to run again in 1968.
	
Hubert Humphrey was his Vice President 1965-1969.
He was married to Claudia Taylor (Lady Bird) born 1912
