Take That in 1995

The band spent the start of the year locked in Gary's home studio recording the forthcoming TT album.

European promotion followed towards the end of January with trips to Switzerland, France and Germany.

Britain was next and the recording of the video for the new single "Back For Good".

TT performed at the Brits on February 20th. It was the world's first play of Back For Good and the response was amazing. After pressure from radio stations desperate to play the track, promotional copies were hurried pressed and the release date was brought forward to March 27th.

The band had no time to reflect on this amazing success as it was straight to Italy the day after the Brits to perform at the world famous San Remo Festival.

Back For Good was finally released and was Number 1 for 4 weeks. It was the fastest selling non-charity record of all time!

Rehearsals for the European tour followed, finally ending up in London's Dockland's Arena where a number of lucky fans were let in to watch the dress rehearsal!

The next day the band pre-recorded a number of appearances for Top Of The Pops before flying off to Holland for the start of the tour.

The European tour was pretty much the same as the previous year's UK Pops tour but with Back For Good added and the Beatles Medley was performed without the walk-way and mini stage. The shows went down a storm all across Europe!

The album, Nobody Else, was released on May 1st and went twice platinum in the first week!

The end of May was spent in London rehearsing for the appearance on 1st June on the MTV's Most Wanted with Ray Cokes where they performed 3 live tracks, Back For Good, Pray and Babe, hung around the studio, played the bingo wheel of death and Robbie even won a tenner of Ray for pulling his trousers down on live television!

More European promotion followed this time taking in Italy/Germany/France and Spain. The band also found time to put in an appearance at the Silver Clef Awards where they bided for a year's season ticket at Wembley Stadium and picked up an award.

The band headed back to Manchester for a few days break while Robbie went to Glastonbury and ended up on stage with Oasis!!

The band were soon back working and started rehearsals for their most ambitious tour yet, the Nobody Else tour.

Rehearsals stared in a terroital barracks up in Stockport and this is where Robbie dropped his bombshell.

Monday July 15th the band flew to London minus Robbie. Later that evening RCA released a press statement confirming Robbie's decision to leave the band.

The remaining members of the band spent the next 2 weeks in London rehearsing for what was to be the most spectacular tour.

Never Forget shot straight into Number 1 and the band peformed for the first time as a foursome on Top Of The Pops.

The Nobody Else Tour kicked off on 5th August at the Manchester Arena. The tour was the most spectacular show ever seen in an indoor arena. From the moment the band appeared on stage in an explosive version of Relight My Fire the fans went wild. The band performed all their hits, lots of new songs from the Nobody Else album and even had a go at playing in their own band as they perfomed Pink Floyd's Another Brick In The Wall and Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit.

The tour finished at Earls Court, London on 31 August, unknown at the time to be the last UK show Take That performed. There was no time to reflect on the succes of the tour however, as it was straight into a few days rehersal for the forthcoming tour of Australia and Asia which kicked off in Sydney.

The show was a mixture of the Nobody Else UK Tour and the 1994 Pops Tour although not quite on the same scale. The band were fairly worried about the tour what with it being the first trip out of the Uk without Robbie and that the show was just going to be them and their band, no dancers etc. Of course there was no need to worry as the shows went down great and the fans loved them!

The tour finished on 17th October in Jakarta and it was straight to the US where Back For Good had been steadily climbing the charts. Los Angles was first before moving onto New York. While in the US the band gave lots of radio/magazine interviews and appeared on some major TV shows including The David Letterman Show. Back For Good peaked at Number 7 in the charts and was still hanging around as an airplay favourite a year later!

Once the work was completed in the US it was back to the UK for a well deserved break. The next major appearance of the band was at the Smash Hits Poll Winners Party held at the begining of December. As usual the band swept the board and performed Back For Good and Never Forget for their delighted fans.

The recording for the Christmas edition of Top Of The Pops followed a few weeks later before the band had a break over Christmas.
