CHAPTER    THIRTY-SIX

" Ok you hold it like this." Isaac said as he showed Kay how to hold the guitar in her hands. She held it. Isaac tried not to notice how she kept staring at him.

" Ok now what?" Kay asked as she continued staring at him.

" I'll teach you the first chords." Isaac said. The lesson's got underway. To his surprise Kay was pretty good.

" When are you going to teach me some songs?" Kay asked impatiently. Isaac shrugged.

" You have to know all the chords first then I will be able to teach you a song." Isaac said.

" Ugh." Kay said. Isaaac laughed. The lesson continued.

" Pretty soon you'll be able to play like this." Isaac said as he played Until She Sleeps by Metallica. To his amazement she joined him. " You know how to play?"

" Yeah. I've been playing since I was six." she said. Isaac stopped playing. " Hey why did you stop?"

" Then why did you want me to give you lessons?" Isaac asked. Kay smiled.

" I think you know why." Kay said moving close to him. Isaac tried to move away from her but she pulled him close planting a kiss on his lips. He pulled away.

" Kay." he started but she kissed him again. " STOP!" She stopped.

" Why?" Kay asked innocently.

" You have a boyfriend. I have a girlfriend." Isaac said. " This is wrong. "

" C'mon you know you want me." Kay said.

" Ok, I admit you are pretty-" Isaac started.

" Only pretty?" Kay asked softly. Isaac sighed.

" Ok you're beautiful. Maybe even more than June." Isaac said. He regretted that and wished he could take them back.

" Forget June." Kay said. " She doesn't deserve you."

" Why not?" Isaac asked. Kay laughed.

" Why?" Kay asked. " Because of D.J."

" What about them?" Isaac asked.

" She's cheating on you. Who do you think she's with right now?" Kay asked. Isaac shook his head.

" No she's not. You're just jealous." Isaac said.

" I saw them together at the party." Kay said.

" You were at the party?" Isaac asked. Kay nodded. " Then you know that I was with her the whole time."

" I don't think so. She left you in the begining. To go change, so she says. I saw D.J slip into the room." Kay said.

" NO! You're a lying bitch." Isaac said.

" Then I saw them dancing. She should have told him to get lost. But did she? No she danced with him." Kay said.

" But they are only friends." Isaac said.

" D.J wants her. Every one knows that." Kay said. " They've known each other for along time. " Kay said. Isaac sat there not wanting to hear any of this. It was a lie. Wasn't it? He wasn't so sure.

" Why are you doing this? " Isaac moaned. Kay cupped his face in her hands.

" Cuz I want you. I wanted you the minute I saw you." Kay said kissing him. He hesitated. She kissed him again. " I know what I'm saying."

" You have a boyfriend." Isaac said.

" Not anymore. We've been going out for a week. He asked me out the minute my old boyfriend left me. " Kay said as if reminicing of her old boyfriend. " I don't know why I just told you that."

" Me either." Isaac said. He stood up. " I refuse to talk about this." Kay grabbed his arm and pulled him back down.

" Who says we have to talk?" Kay said kissing him passionatly. Isaac's lips betrayed him and June as he kissed her back. Damn that wasn't supposed to happen or what happened next.

" June hurry up." Marc complained. They stood in line at the Dairy Queen.

" I don't know which flavor I want." June complained.

" If you had your own way you'd have them all." D.J teased. June smiled.

" I'll have chochlate chip cookie dough." June told the person behind the counter.

" I knew you would. It's your favorite." D.J said. They got their ice cream and sat down. " yum." DJ said taking a lick of his ice cream.

" What kind is that?" June asked as she took a lick of hers.

" Oreo Cookie." DJ said.

" Let me have a taste." June said. Sati watched them. June took a taste of his ice cream. " Here you eat mine and I'll eat yours."

" What makes you think you can have mine?" DJ asked.

" I always get what I want." June said.

" True." DJ said taking hers. " I never get what I want." He said softly looking at her. June looked away.

" So what are we doing next?" Lynne asked. June shrugged.

" How about the 112 Club?" Kara asked.

" Ok." DJ said. June shrugged.

" Ok then lets go later tonight." Sati said. " Taylor and Isaac can come." Sati said. DJ frowned at the mention of Isaac. " It'll be fun."

" Let's meet at Nine ok?" Lynne asked. They agreed. " Who's got a quarter I want to play a song on the juke box." June handed her a quarter. She wasn't feeling so great. She felt as if something was happening that shouldn't be.....what it was she wasn't so sure.

" I'm not feeling so good. I think i need to go home." June said standing up. D.J stood up to but she shook her head no. " I can walk.it's not so far." June left before anyone could protest. She didn't walk home. She ran. She went inside and found Isaac sitting on the couch.

" Why are you here? We'ren't you supposed to go somewhere?" June asked. Isaac looked up looking extremly guilty. " What's wrong?"

" Nothing." Isaac said sharply. June eyed him for a bit. She sat down next to him but he inched away.

" Tell what's wrong." June said softly.

" Nothing is wrong." Isaac said. She kissed him on the cheek and he pulled away. She sat there staring at him. " What's going on between you and D.J?"

" Nothing." June replied. Isaac looked at her it looked as if he didn't believe her.

" That's not what I heard." Isaac said.

" What exactly did you hear?" June asked. He repeated what Kay said to him. June laughed. " She's right D.J does like me but I don't want to give you up for him. You're too great. We're perfect together." Isaac stared at his hands.

" I need to do something excuse me." Isaac said. He stood up he left leaving her behind and really confused.

Two    Weeks    Later

Isaac was happy to be with his parents. He missed them. Avery was sitting in the living room playing with barbies. He sat down and began to play with her. He hadn't talked to June for awhile and definatly hadn't talked to Kay. What had he done? Why did he do what he had?

" You ok Ike?" Avery asked staring at him. Isaac smiled and stood up.

" Sure am." Isaac said. He went over to the phone and called June.

" Hello?" a voice asked.

" Hi. Is June there?" Isaac asked.

" Hold on." The voice said.

"Hello?" An uncertain voice asked. Isaac felt like hanging up.

" Hi June." Isaac said.

" Hey Isaac!" June said happily. " Sup?"

" Um nothing...." He said. Boy was that an understatement. " Could you come over? I need to tell you something."

" Sure what time?" June said. Isaac thought. His parents were taking the kids out in half an hour. They needed to be alone.

" In an hour." He said. That should be enough time to figure out how he's going to tell her.

" Ok see you there." June said. " Oh Isaac?"

" Yeah?" Isaac asked.

" I love you." June said hanging up. Isaac felt even more guiltier. He went back and sat with Avery.

" Want to hear a riddle?" Aver asked.

" Sure." Isaac said abesntmindly. Avery cleared her throat.

" What's always on the verge of happening but never happens?" Avery asked. Isaac shrugged. " Tomorrow." Avery said. Why did that feel like an omen to him?

" That's nice." Isaac said quietly. " You should go get ready to leave." Avery nodded and went to go change. He didn't have to tell June. But he felt so guilty. He had to tell someone. About twenty minutes later his family came trooping in.

" Ok Isaac we're going." Diana said. " You know where we'll be and the number is on the fridge. Are you sure you don't want to come with us?" Isaac shook his head. He watched his family leave. All he had to do was wait for June. The doorbell rang. He looked at the clock. Strange. She wasn't due for another twenty minutes at least. He opened it. He blanched.

" Hello Kay." Isaac said. Instead of inviting her in he walked out onto the porch with her.

" Hello Isaac." Kay said. Her voice trembled. Isaac looked her in the eyes and noticed that they were red and swollen.

" What's wrong?" Isaac asked cautiously. For some reason he felt that he wasn't going to like her answer.

" I'm...." Kay started. She couldn't finish. Instead she burst out crying.

" What is it?" Isaac asked. The two sat down on the front steps. She threw her arms around him.

" I don't know what I'm going to do?" Kay wailed. Isaac pulled away from her. She only burst out into more tears. It took Isaac ten minutes to calm her down.

" About what?" Isaac asked. Kay stared at him and tried to control them but more tears slipped down. He hugged her. She held on to him tight and didn't let go so all he could do was hold her.

" I'm pregnant." Kay said softly. " And it's yours." Isaac sat there stunned.

" No it couldn't be." Isaac moaned. Kay kissed him.

" But it is." Kay said looking in his eyes. Isaac had to look away from her. Just the nearness of her made him want to throw up. His eyes closed. When he opened them he about screamed. June was standing there in front of them. She looked so hurt.

" June." Isaac began but she turned and ran from him. " I have to go after her." Isaac said.

" Let her go. We need to talk about what's going to happen." Kay said.

" She's my girlfriend I've got to go talk to her." Isaac protested. Kay laughed.

" Girlfriend? What am I? I'll tell you what I am." Kay said. " The mother of your child. Now stay." Kay commanded. Isaac sat down. He would talk to her later. But as he listened to Kay the more he had to talk to June. He stood up and ran with Kay shouting angrily behind him. He didn't care. He didn't have to run far. He found her crying on the curb. He sat down beside her.

" Go away Isaac." June said as she wiped her tears away.

" I need to tell you something." Isaac said softly. June looked at him.

" I don't want to hear just go." June said. Isaac shook his head no.

" Just listen." Isaac said. He took a deep breath and began.
