I have sat and watched the sun set into oceans, bays and
lakes.The colors
spreading across the water like an unfolding tapestry. The
day sliding away
in visual real time.Slowly fading from view, giving way to
the darkness that
wraps around you like a blanket.
There is a finality to watching a sunset. It is the true keeper
of time.The
passing days are something you can actually see with your eyes.
If you have the patience and know where to look.
The trees and flowers, the snows and the rains, the fading of the
paint;all mark the the passing days.Quiet reminders of mortality. The faces
and hands of your friends, the decreasing balance of your morgage, the wall
where you
measure your childrens height;all in their own way are there for
our eyes to see the time rushing by.The mileage on your car,the fading of
your jeans, the hair growing out of your nose.Subtle reminders.
I have watched the sun set in many places. When you see it set over
water there is a spell it weaves. It draws you inward."Was today worth
it?" "How many more sunsets will I see?" "I remember..."
I have watched the sunset over oceans, seas and lakes. In the colors
that are the end of a day,I have seen and faced my mortality. With my eyes,I
have seen time passing.Author Unknown
