"Come follow us...", CULTS!!!

Many of todays youth have grown up without a religious background. This is the reason that many teens today find a need for some sort of religion or "religious group". Today's world is full of ideas and groups that can hurt a impressionable teen. Many articles have surfaced in the papers in the past 5 to 10 years of famous cults that create riot and chaos. Many teens think that this is these are the only cults around but guess what, they're wrong!

Many "religions" today are drifting away from the traditional Christian believes and values and creating a "new age" view. This view is dangerous and very common. Think of how many "religions" that you know that believe that Jesus was the son of God who died and was resurrected from the dead to save us. Calling a "religion" a cult causes controversy, but it is our duty as Christians to help our friends, family or even ourselves if we see them getting involved in a cult.

Some signs of cults are:

1. The preacher does not talk about the bible, the main source of teaching comes from other books.

2. The group does not believe that Jesus is the son of God.

3. The group performs abnormal behaviour(such as preparing for World War III and storing arms)

These are only some of the strange behaviours of some groups. If you see any of your friends or family engaging in this behaviour pray for them and witness to them with your personal testimony. This takes a lot of courage, but God is with you and will give you strength!

Just remember, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
