Smores!
We have already settled and became accustomed to the everyday life at thacher. The morning lectures, formal dinners, even the Saturday trips to town. It must've been the end of our third week and we were getting slightly bored. Then we saw that between the two guy dorms, there was a place for a campfire and one was planned for the saturday night.
During the next trip to Ojai, Casey bought all the necessary ingridients for smores: crackers, LOTS of marshmallows and enough chocolate to keeps us on a sugar high for a week. After getting an approval from the TAs and taking Sam (who else?) along with us, we found some wood and with the help of lots of newspaper the fire began burning.
As time went on, more and more people showed up who quickly stuffed their faces with freshly made smores. The evening was going along very well, we've heard some college - stories from Sam, a couple of work-related incidents from Mike Klausler, and were getting a bit bored and tired (it was aobut 1:30 in the morning) when a hissing sound was heard.
One can never forget the pandemonium that followed in te next thirty seconds. As the sprinklers, yes the great, powerful, cold-water sprinklers turned on all around us, we ran off, grabbing whatever we could (chocolate, soda, marshmallows). A few brave souls returned intentionally to salvage the rest of the supplies. After the pandemonium was over, most of us went down to the mac lab continuing the night, very few of us could sleep being on a major sugar high.
