HORSE GROOMING TIPS

IVORY SOAP AND LISTERINE: I good way to help clear up fungus such as rain rot. Bathe the horse with ivory soap. And when it dries, poar listerine over the spot that has rain rot.

PALMOLIVE DISH SOAP: Cheap way to get a horses coats very shiny for shows. Works better than expensive Horse Shampoos. ~*~From Jenn~*~

VASALINE: Great way to help hair grow back faster on scars. Will not make hair grow back a different color either. ~*~From Jessika~*~

HERBAL ESSENSE SHAMPOO: Great way to get horses's sock or any white markings white. ~*~From Laura~*~

BABY POWDER: A great way to make white socks or blazes even white for shows.

MAYONNAISE: Use a couple spoonfuls when bathing. Lather in with a cloth and then rinse out. ~*~From Samantha~*~

CORN MEAL: Great from removing dirt and manure stains. Add a little bit of water to the corn meal in a bucket until you have a semi-thick paste. Rub it into the horse's coat. Let dry and rub off with a hard brush. ~*~From Samantha~*~

LOTION AND BABY OIL: Mix 1 part lotion (the non perfumey type is best) with 2 parts baby oil and 3 parts hot water (this is just so the lotion disolves better, of course use after it has cooled). This is the best way to moisten and shine, that is actually good for your horse's coat.

ALCOHOL AND ISPROIL: to get manure stains out of horses try using isproil and alcohol and then rubbing the area w/ a cloth. ~*~ From AnimalKid1~*~

COLD WATER: A good way to get your horses tail to grow is to soak it in cold water about 2 times a day daily. ~*~From Emily~*~

VASELINE: Put Vaseline all over your horses hoofs and expecially around the nail holes to keep moisture out. ~*~From Jessika~*~

CRISCO: To get a tall to grow longer, put crisco in it everyday and then keep in braided. ~*~From Kaite~*~

GARLIC: Great to feed to your horses. It helps digestion, fights infection, and helps repel flies. ~*~From Daniel~*~

CORN OIL: Add to the feed to help put weight on and gives them a lusterous coat. Start with a small amount and work up to a cup. ~*~From Daniel~*~

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR: Pour a little on thier feed to help lubricated joints and build strong bones. ~*~From Daniel~*~

PEANUT OIL A great moisturizer for hooves. ~*~From Daniel~*~

BABY OIL AND ALCOHOL: Great to spray on the roots of the mane and tail to promote growth. ~*~From Daniel~*~

MTG: You can buy this at your local tack stores. Stands for mane and tail groom, but can be used to make hair grow back faster on cuts or get rid of rainrot.

LISTERINE: Works good a linament and is cheap. ~*~From Lauren~*~

INFUSIUM 23: A good way to keep a horse's mane and tail shiny and silky. ONLY USE ONCE A WEEK.

VINEGAR: Pour vinegar on a horse's tail to make them stop rubbing their tail. Also repels flies.

APPLE VINEGAR: When your horse's coat is slightly humid after washing, rub it over your horse's coat using a cloth. Do it every day in the evening starting 3 days before a show. For the day of the show your horse will shine a lot!
