Darkness falls upon my soul
even as the sun warms my face
pulling me deeper into its depths
leaving me feeling alone and out of place.

I struggle to the surface
not wanting to drown
fighting to regain my life
and refusing to be kept down.

A light burst forth from inside
banishing the darkness from my soul
allowing my spirit the freedom to fly
finally making me whole
