Undying Love

She sits in the garden
Surrounded by sweet smelling flowers.
Her frail hands reach out to touch them
As the tears run down her face.
The memories come flooding back
Causing a pain greater than she has ever known.
She can still hear his laughter
And feel his fingers brushing her skin.
A sad smile touches her lips
As she sees him gathering flowers
Remembering his sheepish grin
As he places them next to their bed.
She wipes away the tears once again
And walks the path back to the house
The house he built for her so many years ago
So vibrant and alive he was then
Now he lies still and quiet
Not even knowing she is there
Not knowing she will die with him
Unable to go on without him by her side.
