POEMS OF ROMANCE
By: Carol Ann Weston

THE DOOR

It seems I have been waiting
Forever for this moment.
Now that we are here,
Drawing ever closer to the truth,
I find myself afraid,
Frightened of what we might learn,
Despite barriers we have already struggled to cross.

We have encountered the dangers,
Confronted the past,
Succumbed to the future
After painful years.
What is to happen now,
Remains a mystery to us both.

Together, we stand strong
To face the adventure before us.
As one, we can only survive;
That very thought comforts me now
As we move onward through the door...

THE EYES

The eyes,
They say that the eyes
Are the window to the soul.

I looked into your eyes today and
Saw a garden,
Laying fragrant in the sun,
Surrounded by crystal waters,
Reflecting weeping willow trees.
The air was warm,
Alive with singing birds.

The eyes,
They say that in a lover's eyes,
You see an extension of yourself.

I looked into your eyes today and
Saw someone sensitive,
Someone who has experienced pain,
Someone vulnerable,
Imaginative and kind,
Capable of loving freely,
Exclusively;
I saw myself.

The eyes,
Your eyes,
Everything;
Yet, so much more...

THE FLESH

There is something about the flesh -
Soft,
Sensual,
Alive;
Two bodies linked together
In a most intimate bonding of souls.

There is something about the flesh -
A soothing combination of heat and of cold;
Naked arms,
Thighs,
Breasts,
Hands,
Smooth and caressing,
Joining as one,
Skin upon skin.

There is something about the flesh -
A sensation beyond desire,
Molding together, lovers entwined,
Pure,
Magic,
Forever...

There is just something about the flesh.

BRILLIANT SEDUCTION

Here you stand before me,
Mystery unknown,
Wickedly handsome,
So tall and all alone.

Brilliant, seductive,
Alive and on fire,
Eyes glowing bright,
Ablaze with desire.

Is it actually you,
You with your sinister smile?
Are you here with me to stay,
Or just to torment me awhile?

Silhouetted by lightning,
You flash in the dark,
Smoldering passion,
Awaiting to spark.

Masculine, untamed,
Resistible temptation,
Lingering shadow,
Senseless sensation.

Forcefully, I turn;
Quickly, I close the door,
Returning to reality
As I could never do before.

Alone amongst the stars,
You walk towards the moon,
Fade into twilight;
I hope you come back soon.
