The REEF originally used Iron Hammer tanks as their main heavy battle unit and to support infantry. When Iron Heart Industries was taken over by the Coalition, it was decide that REEF Canaveral base develop a replacement for it. A four legged robot was decided in place of a Tank because it can handle terrain better.
The Scorpion is all around better performance wise than an Iron Hammer Tank. The Main Gun has a longer range and inflicts more damage per shot. The Scorpion is faster and can actually operate underwater. The two disadvatages is that the Scorpion carries slightly less armor and is more expensive to build.
Pilot uses hand to hand but the gunners only gets their normal attacks. With a full crew (one pilot and two gunner), pilot usually only pilots vehicle, Weapons officer controls the Particle Beam Cannon, Missile Pod, and Short Range Missile Launcher, Forward rail gun will be controlled by a separate Gunner. Who controls each weapon must be designated before the combat. Has standard Rifts Robot sensors and has a periscope to look over fairly low terrain.
In appearance, this Mecha looks like a Battletech Scorpion BattleMech from Technical Readout 3025
