Triax X-10B Predator Power Armor:

When the NGR discovered the improvements that the Coalition did to their power armor designs, they ordered Triax to complete a comparable power armor to the Super SAMAS. The engineers at TRIAX argued against any design so radical and that a general upgrade to the Predator would be far better. It took a long time for the engineers to convince the NGR that the Predator would be the better choice. The argument that finally persuaded the NGR is that the new power armors would cost much more that upgrades. The plan is for Triax to upgrade all Predators in NGR Military Service and then begin constructing new Predators once completed. Triax is hoping to sell the X-10A to outside interests once they have upgraded the NGR to the X-10B Model.

Externally, there are some small appearance changes to the upgraded Predator. The engine has two intakes with one above each shoulder instead of just the one intake about the left shoulder. Between the shoulder of the power armor and the intakes, the power armor has two five cell min missile launchers instead of just a single two cell mini missile launcher over the right shoulder. The intakes are slightly higher to allow for this. The power armor also has four mini missile cells on the outside of each leg. The pattern of mini missile launchers is identical to that carried on the VX-2020 Monster Cyborg. The thrusters of the improved predator are slightly larger as well.

The most obvious weaponry upgrade are the extra mini missile launchers. While the armor carries less mini missiles than the Coalition Striker SAMAS, it is a huge improvement and increases the armors mini missile launching ability by nine times. The pulse cannon has been improved as well. Both the output of the gun has been improved and is variable frequency as well. Like the X-10A Predator, the engines do not overheat but the top speed of the X-10B is about 20% faster than the X-10A.

Notes:
[1] Destroying the head of the power armor will eliminate all forms of optical enhancements and sensory systems. The pilot is forced to rely on his own human vision and senses. Furthermore, all power armor Combat bonuses to strike, parry, and dodge are lost! Note: The head is a small and difficult target to hit, shielded by an exhaust tube, wings, and shoulder plating. Consequently, it can only be hit when a character makes a called shot and even then the attacker is - 4 to strike.
[2] Depleting the M.D.C. of the main body will shut the armor down completely, making it useless. Note: Destroying a wing will make flight impossible. However, even with no wing(s) the X-10A can make jet powered leaps and hover in a stationary position above the ground.

Speed:
Running: 50 mph (80 km) maximum. Note that the act of running does tire out its operator, but at 10% of the usual fatigue rate thanks to the robot exo-skeleton.
Leaping: The powerful robot legs can leap up to 15 feet (4.6 m) high or across unassisted by the thrusters. A jet thruster assisted leap can propel the unit up to 100 feet (30.5 m) high and 200 feet (61 m) lengthwise without actually maintaining flight.
Flying: The X-10B is equipped with a larger and more powerful rocket propulsion system than the X-10A and enables the Predator to hover in a stationary position up to 500 feet (152 meters) or fly. Maximum flying speed is an improved 350 mph (563.3 kph), but cruising speed is considered to be 200 mph (240 km). Maximum altitude is limited to about 6,000 feet (1,828.8 meters).
Flying Range: The new jet propulsion system has eliminated the overheating problem of the old X-10 armor still sold over-seas. The new rockets can fly for 24 hours, non-stop, and at full speed without fear of overheating. A quick cooling system makes the engines usable after only 15 minutes of being shut down. Furthermore, laboratory tests have shown that the engines do not even begin to deteriorate until after 36 hours of constant flight. The stop and start use in the field of combat means the engine have numerous periods of cooling. meaning it can function indefinitely under 98.5% combat situations.
Underwater Capabilities: Swimming: The X-10 can swim by using the same types of paddling leg and arm movements as a human at a maximum speed of roughly four mph (6.4 km/3.4 knots). It can also walk along the bottom of the sea at about 25% of its normal running speed. Using the jet thrusters, the X-10 can travel on the surface of water at 50 mph (80 km/42.5 knots), underwater at 40 mph (64 km/34 knots) or fly above the water surface an normal speeds.
Maximum Ocean Depth: 1,000 feet (305 meters).

Statistical Data
Height: 9 feet (2.7 meters) from head to toe, but 11 feet (3.35 meters) with wings extended.
Width: Wings down: 5 feet (1.5 meters)
Wings extended: 13 feet (4 meters)
Length: 4 feet, 8 inches (1.4 meters)
Weight: 1200 lbs (544.3 kg)
Physical Strength: Equal to a P.S. 42
Cargo: None
Power System: Nuclear, average energy life is 10 years.
Black Market Cost: Not for sale. The armor would probably sell for about 2.8 million with all of the special systems

Weapon Systems:

  1. X-10-500B Super Pulse Cannon (l, right arm): Replaces the X-10-453A Pulse Cannon that is standard on a X-10A Predator. The weapon is also variable frequency with twelve different frequencies (Setting 7 is for Glitterboy armor. Like the original, the weapon is hooked directly to the armor's nuclear power supply, eliminating the need for an external power pack.
Mega-Damage: 2D4 x 10 per multiple blast volley of four simultaneous energy pulse (counts as one melee attack/action) or can fire a single pulse inflicting 3D6
Rate of Fire: Equal to number of combined hand to hand attacks (usually 4-6).
Maximum Effective Range: 4,000 feet (1,200 meters)
    Payload: Effectively unlimited.
  2. Mini-Missile Tube Launchers (18): The Power Armor has the two missile launching tubes on the right shoulder replaced by five launchers on each shoulder and four launchers on the outside of both legs. Each tube launches one missile. Plasma and Armor piercing are the most commonly carried warheads.
Mega Damage: By Mini Missile type (Go to Revised bomb and missile table).
Rate of fire: On at a time or in volley of two, three, or four.
Range: As per mini Missile type (Go to Revised bomb and missile table).
Payload: Eighteen mini-missiles, 5 each shoulder and 4 on outside of each leg.
  3. Energy Rifles or Light Rail Gun and other hand-held weapons can be substituted in an emergency or used as a back-up weapon. Space limitations and the bulk of the armor limit additional weapons to one. The weapon can only be fired by the left hand, thus all right-handed pilots are -2 to strike.
  4. Hand to Hand Combat: Rather than use a weapon, The pilot can engage in mega-damage hand to hand combat. See Basic and Elite Power Armor Combat Training in the Robot Combat section of Rifts, page 45. All abilities are the same except as follows:
    -1 to dodge penalty
    Normal Punch: 1D6+1 M.D.
    Claw Punch: 2D4 M.D.
    Claw Power Punch: 3D6 M.D.
Claw Crush or Tear: 1D6+1 M.D.
  5. Sensor System Note:
    1. The X-10B Predator has a full optical system, including laser targeting, telescopic, passive night vision (light amplification), Thermo-imaging, infrared, ultraviolet, and polarization. It also has all features common to most power armors. Sensor Bonuses: +2 to strike is applicable to long range weapon combat only, not hand to hand. See Power Armor Combat Training in the Rifts RPG, page 45, for other bonuses and details.
    2. Distress Homing Beacon. All X-10B are equipped with a scrambled, radio homing signal used for extraction from combat zones.
