We are originally from Rushville, Il.  Rushville is a very small town with about 3,300 people.  (Needless to say, living in Japan is a definite change to us!!)  Doug joined the Air Force in 1994. He's an engine mechanic on turboprop/turboshaft aircraft.  After
graduating technical school, he was assigned to Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM.  There he worked on UH-1N Huey and HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopters. 

After about 1 1/2 years, we decided to come overseas, as it is definitely a chance of a lifetime!  We moved to Yokota Air Base, Japan in July of 1996, and we'll be here until 2000!  Here Doug works on C-130 engines. 

Since moving to Japan, Sara has been teaching English to Japanese Nationals.  She now has about 15 students.  Through her teaching, we've made several good friends.  She also teaches part-time at an English school about an hour from our home.  This gives her a chance to get out of the house and a great opportunity to experience Japanese life.
