General Order #1: General Orders
General Orders shall be prepared and numbered (beginning with #1), each year and published at the beginning of the year and at the beginning of each campaign. They shall apply for the year unless superceded by a Special Order.
Special Orders will be prepared, numbered (beginning with #1), and published for each campaign.
General Order #3: The Brigade Staff
The brigade staff shall consist of the Chief of Staff, the Assistant Adjutant General, the Assistant Inspector General, the Field Officer of the Day.
The brigade staff may include the following additional positions: Aid-de-Camp, Quartermaster, Commissary, Engineer, Judge Advocate, Ordnance Officer, Mustering Officer, Provost Marshal, Medical Officer, and any other position designated by Special Order.
The duties of the brigade staff shall be as follows:
The Chief of Staff shall co-ordinate all other brigade staff officers and perform such other tasks as are assigned to him by the brigade commander.
The Assistant Adjutant General shall keep the records and books for brigade, including all general orders and special orders, shall receive morning reports from battalion adjutants and compile a brigade report for the chief of staff.
The Assistant Inspector General shall act as the safety officer for the brigade, shall receive safety reports from battalion adjutants and/or battalion assistant inspector generals, and shall compile a brigade report for the chief of staff.
The Field Officer of the Day shall maintain the order of the brigade camp and the brigade guards.
An Aid-de-Camp shall perform such duties as are assigned to him by the commander of the brigade.
The Quartermaster shall distribute wood and other supplies as may be provided to the brigade.
The Commissary Officer shall distribute any food provided to the brigade.
The Engineer shall direct construction of fortifications for the brigade.
The Judge Advocate shall prepare and conduct courts martial for the brigade.
The Ordnance Officer shall regulate the arms and ammunition of the brigade and assist the Assistant Inspector General in his safety inspections.
The Mustering Officer shall inspect and enroll new recruits into the brigade.
The Provost Marshal shall have custody of prisoners and prisoners of war.
The Medical Officer shall oversee the medical needs of the brigade, insure the fitness of the troops, and report injuries to the Chief of Staff.
General Order #4: Brigade Headquarters
The brigade commander shall designate an area for Brigade Headquarters to conduct the business of the brigade. This area shall be manned at all times by a responsible officer between Reveille and Tattoo except when the brigade is under brigade formation, marching, conducting brigade drill, or in combat.

Each battalion commander shall designate an area for his Battalion Headquarters to conduct the business of the battalion. This area shall be manned at all times by a responsible officer between Reveille and Tattoo except when the battalion is in brigade formation, on a brigade march, conducting brigade drill, or in combat.
