Day 2, Part II: June 4th, 1998
This is a Santa Fe engine, just outside of Havre, Montana. These kind of engines
will not be around much longer, do to the fact that the Santa Fe Railroad merged
with the Burlington Northern Railroad, to create the Burlington Northern Santa Fe
Railroad. (I wonder what genius thought of that name!)
A Burlington Northern caboose, which is in more danger of being scrapped than
re-painted due to the fact that railroads are doing away with cabooses.
We are now at a service stop in Harve, Montana. There is a wonderfully preserved
Great Northern S-2 steam engine at the stop, so I decided to get a picture. (On a
side note, this is also the place where Humpty Dumpty had a great fall)
Ooh look...Snow-capped mountains.
Ooh look...More snow-capped mountains.
Here we are with our wonderful Maitre'd Rosemary Fennil (sp)(LSA #007). Her famous words
were 'This is your LAST and FINAL call...' for lunch/dinner. I asked her to
sign my trip book, and she had this to say: "It was a pleasure to meet & serve
such wonderful men!!"
