Bicolor Poison Frog
(Dendrobates bicolor)
Classification:
Anura DendrobatidaeSize: Males mature @ 32.5 to 42 mm in length. Females mature about 3 mm larger than males.
Color: Pale Yellow, and Orange Tint.
Biology: Up to a dozen eggs or more per mating. If the pair is not separated The female will continue to lay time and time again which may prove unhealthy for the frogs.
Toxins: Closely related to the terribilis, in the wild, produces about 1/2 of the batrachotoxin as his counter part. Wild caught frogs should be handled with gloves.
Note: A friend bred these frogs which produced more frogs than he knew what to do with. Also sounds are from the N. American swamps and not from the rainforest.
