Green & Black Poison Frog
(Dendrobates auratus)
Classification:
Anura DendrobatidaeSize: Mature @ 30 to 32 mm in length.
Color: Green and Black and also Green-blue or Yellow-green and Black.
Biology: 3 to 12 eggs, hatching takes over 18 days. Metamorphosis takes 9 to 15 weeks.
Habitat: Lowland rainforest but been found up to 800 mm. Introduced to the Hawaii Islands over 60 years ago and have established well but don't spread far from their original release point..
Note: It has been reported that they have lived up to 15 years in captivity. One CB frog in my tanks that has been there for at least 7 years. Also sounds are from the N. American swamps and not from the rainforest.
