My Mother Always Said

My mother always said,
"If you had wishes in one hand
and crap in the other,
which do you think would
fill up first?"
And I remember telling her,
"The wishes if you are good enough,
the wishes would come true."
And she would look at me, kiss me on the cheek
And say "yes dear," and would walk away crying.
I never knew why.
She asked me again this week,
"If you had wishes in one hand
and crap in the other,
which do you think would
fill up first?"
And I remember telling her,
"The wishes, for if you are pretty enough,
And if you are thin, and have a big chest,
And have a smile that guys love,
The wishes will come true."
And she looked at me, and kissed me on the cheek,
And told me "yes dear," and went away crying.
And I don't know why.

Dearest Friend, Companion

                                 Dearest friend, companion,
Only at my times of deepest agony do I realize how
much your presence means in my life.
The times we laugh, angels dance in Heaven and there is
finally a peace that surpasses understanding.
We cry and the seas overflow and cause the strongest
river dams to come crumbling down.
The endless echos of our fights make the Devil himself
                                         cower with fright.
When we feeel the cold harshness of reality, we are each
                              other's blanketed protection.
The sun rises and falls knowing how much you mean to
me, and the moon wanes discribing the feeling is mutual.
I search and search for someone who will allow me to
care for them as much as I do you,
But destiny says otherwise...you are unique my friend,
                                      my search is eternal.
Thank you for being who you are, too perfect for my
words to write and too pure for my heart.
No man has the knowledge you keep, as no other man
shall, and yet you still show friendship toward me.
My dear friend, brother, advisor, husband, and
confidant - know this - nobody listens to you as much as I,
Fears you as much as I, and noboby can safely say that
they love you as much as I.
