Turkey Poems For Children

Here are a few little poems one of my sons
learned in second grade. How proud he was
that he could recite these on Thanksgiving Day!

 Turkey Gobbler
 With a wobble, wobble, wobble.
 And a gobble, gobble, gobble
All the turkeys spread their feathers.
      On Thanksgiving Day.
When they see the farmer coming.
All the turkeys start a running.
     And they say.
"You can't catch me on this Thanksgiving Day"
                         Unknown

  Foolish Question ??

I met a turkey gobbler when I went out to play.
"Oh Mr. Turkey Gobbler how are you today"

  Gobble, Gobble, Gobble

"That I can not say" "
" Do not ask me such a question on Thanksgiving Day"
                           Unknown

  Turkey Warning

Tell me Mr. Turkey
Don't you feel afraid
When you hear us talking
About the plans we made ?

Can't you hear us telling
How we are going to eat
Cranberries and stuffing
With our turkey meat?

Turkey heed my warning
Better fly away
Or you will be sorry
On Thanksgiving Day
     unknown

 The Pilgrims Came

The Pilgrims came across the sea,
and never thought of you and me.
And yet it's very strange the way
We think of them Thanksgiving Day.

We tell their story, old and true
Of how they sailed across the blue
Found a new land to be free
and built their homes quite near the sea

Every child knows well the tale
Of how they bravely turned the sale
And journeyed many a day and night
To worship God as they thought right.
                    unknown
