William H. VANCE was born abt. 1789 in Russell County, Virginia. He is the son of Abner VANCE and Susannah HOWARD. He married Nancy BURNSIDES on 4-Feb-1807. Nancy BURNSIDE'S Father may have been John ROCKBRIDGE. William H. VANCE died on 17-May-1853 at Kents Ridge Virginia in Tazewell County. He was buried on his farm at Kents Ridge. William H. VANCE and Nancy BURNSIDES had 10 children that I have listed. They are:

(2) Mary VANCE b. 1813,

(3) William Howard VANCE,

(4) James Harvey VANCE b. 1819,

(5) Sally "Sarah" VANCE b. 1817,

(6) Susannah VANCE b. 1821,

(7) Marinda "Rinda" VANCE b. 1823,

(8) Rhoda J. VANCE b. 1827,

(9) Lucinda VANCE b. 1825,

(10) James Howard VANCE b. 1828.
