Location: Mudfork, Tazewell Co., VA. Approximately 1 1/2 miles from Route # 643 in a remote site on a narrow dirt lane south of where the old Wexler Tabor School once stood on Mudfork, Tazewell County, Virginia. (The school has been gone for over 60 years!) It can be reached on Route # 643 close to Solomon P. Tabor, Sr., home place that still stands in this area.
In the early days this cemetery was also reachable via the area of the Edward Wexler Tabor Home (The kinsman that donated the land for the Wexler Tabor School). Edward Wexler Tabor was the son of Richard Adam Tabor & Mildred Permelia "Milly" (Shrader) Tabor. Solomon P. Tabor, Sr., was the great grandson of Richard Adam Tabor and Edward Wexler Tabor was his great uncle. Edward Wexler Tabor lived in the home that had originally been the log cabin of Richard Adam Tabor & Mildred Permelia "Milly" Shrader. The home had been converted over the years to a more up-to-date structure.
In the 1880 Tazewell Co., VA., Census Edward Wexler Tabor was living in the dwelling as the head of the house with his widowed mother, Permelia Tabor. Herman C. Tabor, s/o Edward Wexler Tabor & Mollie (Mitchell) Tabor, built a home in this area of the converted log cabin home. William Glen Perdue & Callie (Patton) Perdue lived in the Herman C. Tabor home when their first child, Shelby, was born. Glen & Callie Perdue later built a home where the OLD Macedonia Methodist Church stood near the homes of Hesper "Hes" Perdue and Henry Silas Perdue , Glen's father and grandfather. The Edward Wexler Tabor home was not far from the (1930's to 1980's) home of Nannie Gertrude Epperson Bowman, the widow of Sidney Isaac Bowman.
Between the two homes of Edward Wexler Tabor & Nannie Gertrude Epperson Bowman (her husband Sidney Isaac Bowman, d. 4 Mar 1939) was a wide place in the creek known, in the 1930's - 1960's, as "The Hay rake" where local children swam. The home of Solomon P. Tabor, Sr., was built for Berkley Kelley Tabor, s/o Elgan Whitley Tabor & Octavia Zane (Tiller) Tabor. Elgan Whiltley Tabor was the s/o Richard Adam Tabor & Mildred Permelia "Milly" Shrader. Berkley Kelley Tabor lived there with his first wife, Dora Elizabeth Harry, d/o James E. Harry & Virginia "Jennie" (Compton) Harry.
In August of 2000, I found old records prepared by *Mary Hazel (Bane) Neal. She had turned them into the Mormon Church (she is a Mormon) in the middle 1900's. The report listed the place of burial of Richard Adam Tabor & Mildred Permelia Milly" Shrader as the Wexler Tabor Cemetery.

Fannie Ellis Dickenson, (b. 1913, great granddaughter of Richard & Milly Tabor, told me she remembers she and her aunt, Dora Prucilla Kinzer, b. 1877, d. 1953, gathering wild flowers and putting them on the graves of Richard Adam Tabor & "Milly" Shrader Tabor, in the Wexler Tabor Cemetery, Mudfork, Tazewell Co., VA. The graves are located in the left hand side. She is going to go with James Allen "Jimmy" Thomason and show him the placement of the gravesites at the cemetery soon.

4. Hugh J. "Hughy" Tabor, CIVIL WAR, b. abt 1839, d. 14 Sep 1861 while in the Civil War of Typhoid Fever or Phuemonia. I have seen both listed [Fannie Ellis Dickenson told me in late 1997, that she remembers hearing her grandmother, Margaret Lavenia Tabor, daughter of Richard Adam Tabor & Mildred Permillia (Milly) Shrader Tabor, talk about the fact that she and her mother Mildred Permillia (Milly) Shrader Tabor, walked a long way with Hughy the day he left to sign up for the CSA. Hughy died from Pneumonia while fighting in the CIVIL WAR. That long walk was apparently of a great distance. What we would call a long walk today is no comparison to what a long walk would have been to our ancestors].

"Fanny Ellis Dickenson via telephone conversation in September, 1998 "Phillip and his brother, John B., were walking home from the CIVIL WAR they met two beautiful young girls on the road. They did not know their names but they said, "There go our future wives".
(Apparently they were living in Montgomery Co., VA., when they entered the Civil War but their parents had moved to Tazewell Co., VA.)

Peter Schlosser/Sluss (Americanized) was the s/o Johann Joost Schlosser & Margaretha Frey. Johann Joost Schlooser was the s/o Johann Henrich Schlooser & Anna Maria Schompar.
Peter Schlooser married Anna Maria Weschenbach. Johann Henrich Schlosser was the s/o Friedrich Schlooser & Christina Schenck. (All older generation os the Schlooser/Sluss Family from Elmer Clifford "Cliff" Sluss & Joan Sylvia Rose (Banks) Sluss) ** Per Joan Banks Sluss: Peter Schlosser, Sr. was our immigrant ancestor from Germany. He arrived in America in 1732 on the ship "Dragon" with his brother Leonard Schlosser. They settled in the Lebanon area of PA., before moving to MD.
SAMUEL H. SHRADER..................10-7-1891 ...12-8-1979 (Samuel Henry Shrader) Samuel Henry Shrader was the s/o Rufus Jackson Shrader & his first wife, Corrilda Alice Sluss. Rufus Jackson Shrader was the s/o David Shrader, Jr., and his first wife, Chloe Dillion. David Shrader, Jr., was the s/o David "Dave" Shrader, Sr., & Rhoda Nuckles. David "Dave" Shrader, Sr., was the brother of Henry Shrader, Sr. and they were the sons of (unproven) Johannas Christian Shrader who arrived in America on 12 Dec., 1754, on the ship "NEPTUNE" whose captain was William Malane. Johannas Christian Shrader was 30 years of age when he disembarked on the shores of America. This could be our John (The Immigrant) Shrader. This would mean Johannas Christian Shrader was born abt 1734 and this certainly fits with our John Shrader's arrival. (See lineage under Ocie Lee Shrader for the Sluss lineage. Samuel Henry Shrader & Ocie Lee Tabor were first cousins. Samuel Henry Shrader a direct descendant of David "Dave" Shrader, Sr., and Ocie Lee Tabor a direct descendant of the brother of David "Dave" Shrader, Sr., Henry Shrader, Sr.

There is a single grave enclosed by a wire fence and on 1 August, 2000, Fannie Ellis Dickenson, descendant of Richard Adam Tabor & Mildred Permelia "Milly" Shrader, told me via telephone this it is: (She told me she was certain)

Edward Wexler Tabor, s/o Richard Adam Tabor & Mildred Permelia "Milly" Shrader. Herman C. Tabor married Mattie Lou Beavers, d/o William M. Beavers and his wife Sarah. William C. Beavers , s/o John W. Beavers & Lucy Bandy. John W. Beavers, s/o Alexander Beavers & Elizabeth Hankins.
Lucy Bandy, d/o Sarah "Sally" Shrader & Thomas Bandy. Sarah "Sally" Shrader, d/o Henry Shrader, Sr., and his second wife, Louisa Kennedy
Per Fannie Ellis Dickenson , the wife and son of Herman Tabor, Mattie Lou (Beavers) Tabor and son, Edward "Ed" Tabor are buried in a cemetery in Bluefield , Tazewell Co., VA. (She thinks the Maple Hill Cemetery?)
DORA E. TABOR (wife of Berkley Kelley Tabor)..4-23-1894...1-29-1925 (Dora Elizabeth Harry) Daughter of James E. Harry & Virginia "Jennie" Compton. James E. Harry was the s/o John Harry, the younger-I do not know if he was a Junior, & Margaret E. Dedmonds. John Harry, the younger, was the s/o John Harry, the elder, & Elizabeth Barbary (unknown surname). Margaret E.Dedmonds was the d/o Chrisley ? Dedmonds & Lucinda (unknown surname).
After the death of John Harry, the younger, Margaret E. Dedmonds married a Mr.Wade. John Harry, the younger was apparently married three times, first to a Mary (unknown surname), then second to *Caroline E. Mc Granahan and last to Margaret E. Dedmonds. *Caroline E. MC Granahan was first married to a Mr. Shannon?
Virginia "Jennie" Compton, was the d/o Ballard P. Compton & Delilah Harless. Ballard P. Comptom was the s/o Cornelius Compton & Rebecca Jane Patterson. Cornelius Compton was apparently the s/o Hiram Compton & Jenny Shannon. The only reference to the mother of Deliliah Harless was a mother's name of Mary Wingo?
BERKLEY KELLEY TABOR.........................5-6-1892 ...8-4-1954 Berkley Tabor was the s/o Elgan Whitley Tabor & Octavia Zane Tiller. Elgan Whitley Tabor was the s/o Richard Adam Tabor & Mildred Permelia "Milly" Shrader Berkeley's second wife was Nonnie Mae Walls who was the sister of Dorsey Walls. Dorsey married Harold Lewis. Harold & Dorsey Lewis lived on the property between Samuel Henry Sharder & Ocie Lee (Tabor ) Shrader and the Solomon Pink Tabor, Sr., home place.
Octavia Zane Tiller was the d/o Ira Ellis Tiller & Nancy Holbrook Carter, d/o Samuel Carter & Sarah Holbrook. Ira Ellis tiller, s/o William Tiller & Rebecca Clay.

There is a SLIGHT possibility that William Richard Thomas'Tom' Epperson MIGHT be buried in this cemetery. His death announcement listed the place of burial as "a family Cemetery." No funeral home was listed in the data.

Per James Allen Thomason- Regarding Daniel and James Warren Thomason being buried in the Wexler Tabor Cemetery: My aunt Georgia Thomason, Dad's sister and the oldest of the kids of William Estel Thomason,Sr. Georgia told Cecil that she used to go up to the Wexler as a kid and that Daniel and James W. Thomason were buried there and, if that is so then probably Daniel's wife, Elizabeth A. Deaton, and Cynthia (Cynthia Jane Tabor-Thomason) and her husband, James W. Thomason, are together, in the Wexler. Daniel owned a place just over the mountain from the Wexler Tabor Cemetery and so did James W. Thomason.

James' sister, Sarah E. Thomason, married James W. Bell s/o David Bell & Charlotte Shrader. David Bell was the son of Nancy Shrader & Isaac Bell. Charlotte Shrader was the d/o James Britton Shrader & Mary "Polly" Day.
James' sister, Naomi Jane Thomason, married William B."Bee" Tabor s/o Henry Jefferson "Jeff" Tabor & Susan "Suzy" A. Scott. Henry Jefferson Tabor, s/o Richard Adam Tabor & Mildred Permilia "Milly" Shrader Tabor. Henry Jefferson Tabor, died in a prison camp during the Civil War. The camp was Ft. Delaware, DE. The prison was located off shore on Pea Patch Island.
James' sister, India Jane Thomasom, married Nathaniel Tabor (I do not know his connection to our larger Tabor line!) This couple had a son, Nathaniel "Nattie" Tabor, and a daughter, Mary Ester Tabor, who married Fitzhugh L. Tabor . Does anyone know the connection to our Tabor family of Nathaniel Tabor ?the one that married India Jane Thomason?

In May of 2001, James Allen 'Jimmy' Thomason cleaned the Wexler Tabor Cemetery. About 56 yards from the Wexler Tabor Cemetery Jimmy found another OLD Cemetery. One of the readable headstones contained this information:

Regarding the OLD Cemetery found about 56 yards from the Wexler Tabor Cemetery at Mudfork, Tazewell Co., VA.
May 17, 2001 I just talked to Fannie Ellis Dickenson. "After my company leaves, I want Jimmy to take me to see the old graveyard." (She also wants to see the Wexler Tabor)
Fannie told me that she an her aunt, Dora Purcilla Kinzer, used to take flowers to that cemetery. (That would indicate to me someone kin to the Kinzer family was buried in the cemetery-Karen) Fannie related that she did not know where her grandparents Kinzer (Michael F., 1897 -aft 1880 & Anna/Annis Broce Kinzer, 1804-aft 1880) were buried. She knows that there was an old HAVENS home in the area, of the cemetery, and that Michael & Anne Kinzer lived there since that is where John Broce Kinzer & Phillip Kinzer lived after the CIVIL WAR, before they married the two Tabor daughters of Richard Adam Tabor & Mildred Permelia Shrader. John Borce Kinzer married Clarissa Jennette Tabor Phillip Kinzer married Margaret Lavenia Tabor
Fanny Ellis Dickenson via telephone conversation in September, 1998: (Also written by her for the "Tazewell Co., VA. Heritage" page 90) "Phillip and his brother, John B., were walking home from the CIVIL WAR. They met two beautiful young girls on the road. They did not know their names but they said, "There go our future wives".
Because John & Phillip did not know the names of the young women, they met on the road, Fannie thinks the family apparently moved to Tazewell Co., VA., from Montgomery Co., VA (Blacksburg area) while John Broce Kinzer & Phillip Kinzer were in the Civil War.
