Hello Musicians! Technically something that you write, such as a song or lyrics, is automatically copyrighted and is owned by you - known as 'intellectual property', which is accurate because it's something your mind created so you own it. BUT, in a situation where you have to defend your ownership, or collect $ for owning music that is used in some way it is best to REGISTER your work. Officially registering your music, lyrics, artwork, anything... is cheap and if anyone ever tries to take your work and make money from it without paying you, then you have US Copyright protection!
