TROLL SLAYER'S DWARF PAINTING TIPZ. (The 2 time young blood painting award winner! At A local GW painting contest)

Under Coating

I use Ciditdal white undercoat spray paint. it works great. spray only a bit on the model, or it will dribble and cover up the details. the under coat makes the lighter colours stand out more.

Fleshy bitz

under coat white, then base coat with dwarf flesh, then add flesh wash. wait for it to dry, then drybrush with dwarf flesh, and add a little drybrushed bronzed flesh, to higlight the raised parts of the skin(cheek bones, fatty finger, etc.)

Eyes

Paint the skin on first then add black to the eyes. on top of the black, use some skull white. use a very samll amount of chaos black to paint the puiples.

Clothing

Pick a Color for the clothes and paint a dark hue of the color then drybrush a lighter hue.

Armour

I usually paint the armoured areas black then drybrush with mitheral silver. for chainmail, i base coat black, drybrush mitheral silver, add blackwash, then drybrush a little more mitheral silver.

Beard and hair

pick a hair/beard color, like brown. paint it a dark brown color then drybrush a lighter brown. then maybe use some brown wash. then higlight the tips of the beard/hair with some skull white or shadow grey.

Base

Use Gobbo Green and glue some flock or green sand on.

Dwarf Warriors

I usually paint the dwarves' skin first with dwarf flesh and then use flesh wash. Apply boltgun metal to the metal parts. if you dont have bolt gun metal, base coat chaos black then dry brush with mitheral silver. the paint his clothing, shirt, pants then boots. and the little piece of chainmail, black, then drybrush mitheral silver. of course you have to paint the dwarf's beard and eyebrows. use a dark colour, like bestial brown, then drybrush with a lighter colour, like snakebite leather or skull white. Or for the beard, pant it a light colour then use a darker wash. paint the axe handle black or brown. dry brush the dwarf's face with dwarf flesh, then drybrush a little bit of bronzed flesh on his face. and the last step, paint his eyes.

Iron Breakers

base coat the whole model black then drybrush with white on the skin, face, feather things(some models have them), and beard/hair. then drybrush the armour with mitheral silver. paint the skin, hair, eyes, weapon and beard. lastly, if the model has the feathery plume things paint them.

Slayerz

paint all the skin on an use flesh wash then highlight with bronzed flesh. paint the clothing, it shouldnt be too hard, they only have a pair of shorts on or something.then paint the beard and hair blood red. drybrysh with blood angel's red then firey orange.

Bugman's rangers(my award winning troop!!)

paint them as you would a normal dwarf.

Warmachines

paint the metal parts black then a metalic colour. for the cannon, use some flesh wash on the gold color part, it makes it look rusted.

Tips:

-I lick the brush(without the paint on) I know it sounds gross, but it really helps make the brush sharper.

-when you varnish a model use only a little bit of MATT varnish, unless you want a shiny ugly looking model.

-Dont forget to shake the paint before you open it.  it might have settled after a while..

-have a good desk light.  I use one of those twisting designer desk lights. it helps because you can turn it to any angle.

-have a drybrushing brush(old crappy brushes work fine) normal brush small brush and a tiny tiny brush for the eyes.
