Troop 75 Summer Camp

Haliburton, Canada

Traditionally, Troop 75 alternates it's Summer Camp each year between a local Summer Camp (Stigwandish in Madison, Ohio or Heritage in Uniontown, Pa.) and Haliburton, Ontario, Canada. Haliburton Scout Reserve consists of 5,000 acres of pristine wilderness centered around Kennabi Lake. It is located about 5 1/2 hours north of Toronto and traditionally Troop 75 camps on an island site known as Beacobra Cove. The Troop is brought to the camp site by pontoon boats and issued canoes and row boats for transportation. There is a central events area known as "The Hub" from which the Scouts can participate in a wide variety of activities and learning events. Archery, riflery, swimming, canoeing, nature hikes, life saving, sailing, fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, trapper's cabin, and many other activities are available to Scouts. The Troop takes all of the equipment and supplies needed to camp and prepare meals for the week at the remote island site. A power row boat is available to the Troop for emergencies and a full time nurse and doctor are located at the Hub.

Typically, the Scouts work on swimming, life saving, cooking, environmental science, canoeing, and communication, merit badges. Many of the Troop fathers, and some of it's alumni, go on this popular trip which is often the highlight of our Scout's memories. This facility is in such demand that we must book our reservation more than a year in advance and every year we have gone there has been at least one Troop from a country outside of Canada and the U.S., including Israel, Germany, Scotland, England, China, etc. The price for this event has typically been around $150.00. Scouts can earn money toward this, and other events, by participating in Troop fund raising events.
